How much premix to use?
Ok, so I see the normal 1oz to gallon ratio. Now, with a car making 450-500rwhp should I be adding more than 1 oz per gallon? I am using maxim super m oil right now. Thanks

1oz is fine. If your going out to really beat on it, 1.5oz.

Thanks.

I use .5oz per gallon on mine.

Or if your spraying water injection 1.5 oz per gallon is what I've been running now

We run very, very conservative on ours.
1 oz to 1 galon on 500 rwhp or less 2 oz to 1 gallon on 500 - 600 rwhp setting 3 oz to 1 gallon on 600 - 810 rwhp setting The OMP is deleted and our car spins from 1600 - 10,500 rpms. With our pre-mix amounts it has caused very little wear on our housings and everything is holding together. We have not noticed any plug fouling issues from 1 oz versus 3 oz of pre-mix. We run the NGK race plugs (11.5 heat range) in all 4 holes with an M&W ignition system. The pre-mix we use is the Klotz Benol racing castor oil as it does not separate or gum up with E85. It does however smoke a little when running 2 oz or more per gallon. Playing with the idea of running 3.5 oz once we get in the 900 - 1000 rwhp range. Ours is a 13B-REW full bridge running E85 only. |
Mine is smoking a bit. I'm running the super m stuff. I'm about to turn on the water injection too. I am running 93 octane with rc eng 1600cc inj all around. Still got a bit of tuning to do.

The maxima super m oil is ester based synthetic racing oil. It says it's smokeless but that's bs!

it probably isn't the premix that is smoking, even up to 1.5oz/gallon you shouldn't be seeing any smoke.
additionally with the super M, it will seep past the injector seals and cause fuel system blowby issues under boost(i've tried every type of o-ring seal on the injectors but none seem to hold back this oil from pushing past the o-rings, FC or FD, it didn't matter how the injectors were sealed or how tightly i smashed them in there). i suggest running a more traditional 2 stroke premix TCW-3 rated, even the wal-mart crap has proven to work well. i do love the smell of the super M, but it proved to be too preblematic and also is quite gummy if it isn't all ejected from the engine(may cause issues if you let the engine sit for prolonged periods of time). one customer tested it for about a year but when i saw the problems i had him go back to his old conventional brand of premix. |
Why do you run 1.5/gallon with water meth? Getting ready to put water meth in the fc now.

i've always run 1oz per gallon and never noticed much additional wear even on moderately high hp engines even with water/methanol injection. if you're using more expensive race plugs which can't be cleaned, the traditional rule of 1 oz seems to be best. some people get by with .5 oz but the irons do take on additional step wear, the apex seals actually do not require as much lubrication as you would think(at least the harder seals do not, the softer indestructables could use the additional). |
I'm pretty sure it's just so much fuel with the 1600 primaries. The car will be tuned on the dyno soon.
