HKS vs XS cast manifold...
Ok can anyone tell me what the difference is between the two (except the HKS being $100 more?) Does anyone have pictures of the two?

I sell the XS manifold at the RX7 Store. It is on a month backorder right now. Its almost identical to the HKS cast manifold, but a cheaper.

as i said before the greddy T-78 manifold is the best out there IMO...divided equal length runners..S.S. ..greats welds..T04 split flange

I seems to me that the XS manifold has a tiny wastegate runners. How big are the runners anyways? .75-1"?
Wouldn't that cause boost creep? |

I just received my (fc) XS cast manifold. While it is an AWESOME unit, I have a particularly large tangental T04s and it wont fit on because the housing butts into the intake runners. A normal turbo should fit no problem... Just for everyones information.

The XS cast manifold does not share any similarities to the HKS cast manifold. The wastegate runners are 1.3" each and quickly combine into a 1.9" runner. One special feature of the XS manifold is where the manifold bolts to the engine. The ports leading into the manifold are the same size as the gasket (approximately 2.375") whereas all other exhaust manifolds are only about 2" or 50mm. Each port gently merges into the size of a divided inlet T04. We've found this manifold design to make more torque and hp and that's why the manifold is designed like that. This is the advantage of our cast ex. manifold because this design would be very time consuming ($$$) to produce in a tubular manifold. I would post pics, but I don't have them on this computer.
The Greddy manifolds are beautiful pieces. I use a Greddy manifold on my Supra too. It is a piece of art. But at $1800 retail (greddy) vs. $552 retail (XS) you can clearly see the advantage. |
Has anyone used this xs engineering manifold with a TO4E in a FC? Any clearance problems, especially with the intake manifold?

Bullshit! :D I've had the XS Engineering cast divided turbo manifold (1st production run) side-by-side with an HKS divided cast manifold.  You know what - the resemblance is striking!  Exhaust paths are identical in location and even the wastegate mounting angle is similar - hell doesn't the XS manifold USE an HKS wastegate flange bolt pattern?  The XS Engineering manifold DOES have larger ports - this is obvious. I think someone from XS got the HKS manifold and told the cast factory to build a slight bigger version with larger ports on it. This is for the initial 1st production run for the XS Engineering manifolds, so if the design was change, this blows all my arguments out of the water. :) -Ted |
Just because something looks similar, does that mean it's the same? Is a Mustang with a 3.8L V-6 anything close to a Mustang Cobra?
The flange positions of the XS manifolds are all different than that of the HKS manifold. It was designed in-house and it is quite different. Check it out again and I'm sure you'll find that there are significant differences. |
Can i use any of these on my UK car?
I have a the Steering wheel on the other side so the wastgate will foul the Steering rack? any idears? |
Is there a possibilty of the Tial 46mm wastegate fitting on the XS manifold?

Despite the IMMENSE HEADACHE acquiring and installing the XS unit on my FC gave me, I would still recommend it over the HKS because it is a god damn TANK if for no other reason (like the superior port sizes...) That thing will outlast the car, and coming from a cracked steel manifold I'm all about that...
