HKS cast manifold vs. greddy cast
 

can anyone tell me how similar the greddy and HKS cast manifolds are in size? im looking to purchise a downpipe and it says its made to be a perfect fit for a HKS cast manifold but i have a greddy cast...are they close enough for it to fit?

no, differnt turbo location, greddy sits further back and lower , hks further forward and aobut stock height. you could probably weld an extension on though....

so ill probaly be just as well off using my racing beat downpipe (made for the stock turbo) and just cut and mod that right?

im having alittle problem now with the greddy cast and a 60-1. the oil return line sits lower then where it enters the motor and oil is starting to back up threw the exhaust side of turbo. im going to try and change the flange off the turbo return from a 90 to a 45 and turn the center section about 30deg. and mite add a 3/4" T4 flange and hope this works..
other then that i like the location of the turbo lol

are you having these problems with your setup and the greddy cast?

I have no issues here with the Greddy. The drain on the turbo is about 4" higher then the return on the front cover. Honestly I can't see how your turbo drain could be lower then the return on the front cover since the return on the front cover is only about 3" higher then the steering rack. :dunno:

i havent got my drain tube instaled yet..i cant figure out what fittings to use to get the angle right...can anyone post pics or name the fittings they are useing..and im running 10 AN hose is that what your using?

damn .. what hot side are you using with that manifold? i have a .84 on center housing but am really looking for a .96 off center

yea i went with the -10an. i have a few pics but there hard to see and i dont know if its worth posting them up

can you take any close ups? im running a HKS T04R with .84 turbine

How did you even get the oncenter housing to fit? When my turbo came with an oncenter I would have had to either cut or bang the crap out of the subframe. Also the oncenter is nowhere near as efficient as it's tangential counter part.

They are tang housings, thats probably where your problem lies, don't piss around with that on-center jazz.

yea im thinking its the on center problem.. no matter what i do i cant get this to line up rite.. i even added 2 ,1/2 spacers and just about chopped the return line all the way out and its barly fitting..

hondahater. i didnt have to cut but im very close to the wall ..

On the engine side, I cut the flange off the stock return pipe and welded a short section of 5/8 pipe onto it. Then I just slid the hose over it and hose clamped it. It works great and I have no leaks.

Remember, I have an HKS TO4R (.96 turbine) just like you do. I am using an HKS Cast manifold, though.

The only thing I had problems with was that straight, brass drain fitting I listed earlier. I ended up just going to the hardware store and buying a 90* piece of plumbing from the plumbing department. I got that and screwed it into the flange i got from atpturbo. I couldnt use the straight one because it caused too much of an angle on the return hose and make it kink. Heres what I actually ended up using...

Then I screwed the brass fitting into the end of that and hooked it all up.
It would be best if you could just find a 45* or 90* elbow to start of with.
