Help me be a swing single.......

Hey Guys,

I tried posting this topic in the 3rd gen and the tech forum, but no one responded. I just finshed removing my the twins on my 93 to do a single swap, and one of the stud on the block is simi stripped.....Is there anyway to replace these. Has anyone done it before??? Help me with any advice or how to.

Thanks, Jay

You should be able to put a set of vice grips on it and rotate it out, then go to the dealership and get a new one.

If the threads at the protruding end of the stud are not too stripped to jam a couple nuts onto it, use those torqued against each other to back out the stud. MazdaTrix.com has replacement studs: http://www.mazdatrix.com/e7.htm

If the stud is resistant to the vice-grip method, use penetrating oil where it threads into the engine housing, gently tap axially (inline/lengthwise) the end of the stud with a light hammer a few times, and file/grind a couple opposing flat areas on the stud to help the pliers or pipe-wrench grip.
