Heat wrap and ceramic coating

I recently purchased the 500r hp from a-spec, i got the hotside of the turbo and the downpipe ceramic coated, and I was wondering if heat wrapping the downpipe will yield any positive, or negative results. I wanna keep under hood temps down, but I have heard of premature wear when these two items are combined. Also, the car never drives in the rain so the heat wrap moisture thing is a non issue. Thnx

it will for a while but the heat wrap is useless, as within a week it burned off! only think i see worth it is wrapping your wires around the turbo (and the a/c line) with a coated heat wrap to prevent any wires or hoses from burning.

Oh and the turbo blanket is the best item i have under the hood (besides the motor :D )

Definitely invest in a turbo heat blanket in addition to the ceramic coating :icon_tup:

turbo blanket

Are their any turbo blankets that you guys have better luck with than others. Which one is the best ?

There's no disadvantage to having ceramic coating and a turbo blanket besides the cost.

I'm thinking about wrapping both my downpipe and the manifold as well. Will this hurt it in any ways?

Or you can do this.

ATP does custom setups: http://atpwrap.com/html/turbo1_14.html

I wrapped my manifold and downpipe and have had nothing but possitive effects, decrease temps under hood dramatically, and quicker spool. But I think most warranties are voided by doing this. Also already mentioned above cant go wrong with a turbo blanket:icon_tup:

Unless the ceramic coating was done at Swaintech there will be a definite improvement by wrapping it, same with a turbo blanket on the hotside. Wrapping or coating the header is a must do if you are concerned about under hood temps.

You mean like this? I had to modify the downpipe a little so I lost the wastegate shields but 85% of it is there. It is worth every penny.

That's interesting. What is that exactly and where does one acquire such a thing? Looks great!

+1 thats pretty cool.. looks like the turbo blanket material fabbed up for other parts? how much does taht stuff run for? more details......

So whats the census on the actual wrapping or covering of the lim, with specific reference to the gold wrap. I have seen other insualting products that could be manipulated to form fit the lim.
