GT42R VS hks t51r

JUST WONDERING which one is bigger than the other. between the GT42 & the HKS T51r

Havoc 11-26-08 10:51 PM

In pure size I believe the GT42 is.

dregg100 11-26-08 11:45 PM

which t51? kai or spl? just get the garrett or borg unit and save yourself some money

darkphantom 11-27-08 12:05 AM

Buying a turbo because of the way it "sounds" is recockulous.... Damn inter-webz is full of tards I tell ya. :icon_no2:

Oh, and on the original question, why the hell don't you just SEARCH for it.....Besides the fact it's a no brainer.

I was under the impression that the SPL was bigger actually

An anti-surge compressor cover will make a similar whistling sound, though the HKS unit has a very small spacing which probably makes the noise higher pitched then a garrett standard anti-surge.

But nonetheless, you can get that sound without the HK$ price tag.

darkphantom 11-27-08 03:06 PM

yeah the spl is actually bigger. YOU be suprised how close in size each turbo is but the kai is more closer to the gt42r than the spl. but the 42 is a bigger turbo i know that for a fact. but the question is how big is it from the T51. & ive searched before. it seemes no one wants to pay HKS money thus why not alot of people have the turbo!

dregg100 11-27-08 06:08 PM

thats because it is a waste of money. yes the spl is the bigger, closer to gt45 in size.

darkphantom 11-27-08 09:54 PM

not from this map

btw its been proved that 700hp is possible under 28lbs on a t51r. just not here in the states! (scoot 710hp rx7 @ 2.0 bar)

Havoc 11-28-08 12:44 AM

mate do you want the physical size difference or just the wheel size ?

Big thread here should help you out.

Just like every car that dyno in japan always do a lot less here. Wonder why? It's called correction factor. Every type of dyno is different.

OZZYINCALI 11-28-08 01:38 AM

hks far superior

t51r is based of a garret ta45s which I think you can still buy from garret The t51r's have a higher flow rating than the ta45s but similar spool and response times! The hks units have better flowing compressor housings with a slot around the inlet that feeds air into the sides of the inducer to reduce compressor surge! also the hks turbos feature the bullet shaped compressor nut that is said to also improve flow. thanks for listening

OZZYINCALI 11-28-08 01:46 AM

hks compressor sizes

t51r'kai' inducer is 70.3mm 'spl' 76.5 both have a 1.0a/r exhaust housing. both avilable in ball and plain bearing. trust turbos are worth a mention too.

im refering to the actual size difference!

K_1_M 11-29-08 05:20 AM

The Garett gt4202r with the tial housing is pretty much the exact same size as the HKS t51r SPL... With the t4 and t6 frame the garett is bigger.

But why do you need to know the size? Wondering what box to put it in??

OZZYINCALI 11-29-08 12:02 PM

My thought exactly what are you looking for? big or efficient?

Clyton91 03-16-13 09:56 AM

Hey guys

Does anyone have a compressor map for a GT4502r?

Thanks in advance!

umm.. just go to the manufacturers web site.

darkphantom 04-01-13 08:19 AM

nice to see my thread resurected from 5 yrs ago even though i did go with the GT42....... wierd to see that half comments are making fun of Newbies & other half actually help you out...

either way i went with the GT42 since the T51 is same size but for the sound is ridicilous.... besides the fact the GT42 outflows more.... & i made a hybrid by Machining a GT45 wheel in the 42R.
