GT3540 best kit
 

I was about to make a move on a single GT3540 but heard there are a few diffrent kits out there . Any suggestions ?


Also, I am a bit shy $$$ for my FMIC so I will have to use my PFS SMIC for two months . If I run a low boost setting do you think I am ok ?

$3599 at www.a-spectuning.com ... pay a little extra you get other options such as jet-coating, etc... their kit seems to be the most complete

I've seen other kits out there that don't even come with the right downpipe gasket or an oil restrictor for the oil feed line!! amazes me sometimes!

The PFS SMIC is a little smaller than the M2 medium, but I don't see a reason why it won't work at any boost level. There are plenty of people running high boost with SMIC's.

bump.... wow, I thought my tiny PFS SMIC was only good for stock twins. Any other suggestions ? I spent to much on my street port to blow this core up

The IC core will not blow up. A core is a core not matter where it's mounted. The actual size of a FMIC is usually larger, but this doesn't make the IC stronger. The reason the stock IC blows apart is because it has plastic end tanks. All aftermarket IC's are welded and should not blow apart at any reasonable boost level.

Core as in my motor not the IC.... I have a street port and wouldnt want to damage anyhting with high intake temps . My PFS equipmnet ( and this isnt ripping on PFS ) doesnt perform that well. The cold air induction with the SMIC runs dangerously high intake temps when your not moving .Obviously I am concerned the volume of the SMIC isnt effective with a large single.

When you go single, your air intake temps will drop drastically. Just make sure that you monitor your air intake temps if you have a PFC and make sure you dont' drive hard if it's too hot and you'll be fine

i love the kit. i got mine for 3k from an ausie dude. i made 350rwhp at 9psi with 93 pumped gas! spools quick!!!

ANY SMIC will run hot at idle due to heat soaking. Once you get in motion, you will be fine. Max Cooper has been running 15 psi with an Apexi RX-6 and an M2 medium SMIC for quite a while now.

You will want to keep an eye on your air temps but I see no reason you couldn't run 13-14 psi. More than that might be pushing it, but you'll just have to watch your intake temps for YOUR car.

As said before, the pfc intercooler should work fine for the time being. I would definately go with something bigger in the future though, especially for boost greater that 15 psi.

These prices are based on NZ$5000 and $4700 respectively.
Includes Turbo, Turbosmart 45mm wastegate, SS manifold and blank off plates oil lines etc.
How soon this gets done depends on demand as I have a few things on my plate at the moment

Thanks , some helpfull info here .I have a PFc but just heard the 1600cc injectors will require me to get the datalog softwear to tune the injecotrs ?

1600cc are huge,I cant wait to get this going in a few months . I was thinking the car must feel pretty nasty with that much HP kicking in the rear end when the boost kicks in.... must be a rush. I am running around 320rw with my current twin set up but the modified twins were a big mistake .
