gt35 or s366
Hey I am about to start my single turbo conversion and before I made my decision I thought I would ask the experts. On my 94 fd I have a ks v mount ported throttle body upper and lower intake and 3 inch exhaust. Also a tial Bov and 50 mm turbosmart waste gate. Ecu at the moment is a knight sports one but I'm leaning towards going with a microtech. More or less the two turbos I am leaning towards are a garret gt35r and a borg warner 66 mil. I daily my car and am looking for something with good driveability and response not a race car or.dyno queen. ny help is appreciated.

S366 by a mile. I build full kits if your shopping around.

^ Care to explain why Lance?

Yes I would also like to know. I have heard that the map is just better suited for a rotary. Also which ar would be best one of 1.0?

Have you thought about the Borg Warner EFR turbo's? The thing that is cool about then is they have lighter weight titanium wheels....which drastically lowers the moment of inertia on the wheel...and doesn't take much energy to spool them. Speedjunkie has one in EFR7670 size and his car rips up here in high altitude CO. You might even look into the next size up which is the EFR7483. The turbo starts spooling around 2,000-2,500rpms on his V-mount......and hits mid 20's PSI boost pretty quickly. It also sounds pretty good and pulls hard up top. He has the dual wastegate external option 1.05 size housing. Be interested in seeing something run the EFR7483 and see what results they get.

I am running the aspec t4 35r 1.06. Full boost by 3800 rpm and pulls hard to 8000. Its does not fall off with 1.06 on the back. Running a microtech lt8s. Wouldnt change a thing.

^^^Good write up on the BW efr series... 7483 seems like it would be a beast on a street driven rotary... |
have fun waiting a year for a turbo..... It's worth it to get something a little more off the shelf that has been proven reliable and powerful on a rotary. Can't go wrong with the s300 series turbos or a T04s

S366

Cool well looks like its going to be the 66 ordered it today from force fed said it will be here in 4 days thanks for you help

35R is more fun to drive on the street with the midrange torque. The S366 is a lazy turbo by comparison.

pretty much my experience with the 35R as well, but comparing a BB turbo versus a non BB turbo.
turbos have come a ways but BB is and always will be superior for spool. |

I'm working on a hybrid turbo right now that should work out very well. I'm hoping to have a full built car at the Chris Carlisi meet. I'll discuss anything to anyone that wants to listen. We all have opinions, I'm only speaking from my direct experience over the years. |
s366 is a bit lazy, not speaking from my personal car experience but i have multiple very close friends that i have personally installed them on and boy was it a wakeup call for me.

A little more info on G's setup:

Personally I'd go for a S362 FMW, which is a great turbo for $1K. It's right between the two turbos in terms of the size, but with the latest billet compressor and turbine..
Also BW has great reputation for being reliable if I was building a 13B turbo car right now, that's what I'd try first... |

If this is true and the power is true whats stated below, you sir have a hell of a machine:icon_tup:. Any more information on the setup? Port, injectors, manifold, ect? |

Nice to see someone post up realistic spool up times.

I am considering the s366 as well. Been looking at the 35r and t04z as well. My question is about external dimensions compared to the other two. I was planning on using a hks cast manifold. Will the s366 turbo fit?
|
BW have a pretty big physical size compared to standard Garrett's. Here's the dimensions.

Sorry for the size, dont know why theyre so big. Also this was just a test fitting, the whole bay is getting sprayed and powdercoated.
|
thats awesome to know the 366 fits on HKS manifold, I know what ill replace the wifes with if the HKS turbo dies.
