GT 3540 Intake Filter

For all of you who have or are getting the GT 3540 single, which intake filter are you getting or have? I'm pretty sure the inlet is 4" and I'm just curious what my options are. As far as fitment goes I have an Apexi FMIC and the radiator is a Koyo and in the vertical posiition. I still should have plenty of room in front for most filters. Just curious on which one seems to work best and where can I get one for a good price?

I used a K/N filter for my XS T04S.

Its a very short K/N conical filter but it does the job. Ill try and get you the part#....

Cool thanks.

I am also curious as to the intake diameter for a GT35/40. I have just picked one up but the compressor cover is off getting polished so i cant measure it :(

Can anyone confirm that it is definately 4". K&N make a stack of 4" inlet filters that i think are gonna do the job.

I have part numbers and lengths/diameters if anybody is interested?

i got the 0.7 A/R compressor housing and it's a 4" inlet.

Thanks mate, i have the .70 cover aswell... what filter setup you using?

I have an old 4" K&N cone filter.

However, I'm planning on a routing method for the intake (use air condition joint elbows and insulation tape like Ari Yallon's intake). I just don't see much space to hack up for the intake like my old FC.

For now, the K&N will just be put on the compressor inlet. As we all know, it'll take in all the hot air that is being flowed through the intercooler and radiator.

I just ordered a K&N. Fourty Ounce is using it on his gt35/40 and it fits perfect. Its a short conical filter with a 4" outlet to fit the turbo inlet. Here is the part #RU-2520
Was like $47 with tax.

How long is that filter?

Silver93T 06-05-02 06:37 PM

I don't have it onhand. Its comming in tomorrow so I can measure.

FourtyOunce 06-05-02 07:21 PM

its 5.5 inches long i think.

i was thinking of using one of my old blitz filters...

...but i'm hoping the filter can withstand the heat from the turbos...at first i was thinking of just using a strainer and clamp but i'll just have to see

The K&N RU2520 is listed as being 5" long in the catalog.

6" from end to end I just measured. The actual filter area without the flange is prolly 5.5"

Silver93T 06-09-02 01:24 PM

And once you slip it over the turbo it should free up a bit more room.

Rotary93 06-09-02 09:50 PM

Make sure its not too short...When my car was on the dyno at Daves, the rubber on the end of the K/N was pulling in from the suction...

Can you tell me how wide that filter is at the base and at the tip? Thanks
