Greddy T88 kit-How streetable is this turbo kit?
Just wondering how this kit works for an everyday driver. I know about the lag but how bad is it. How much additional fuel?WIll a high press. pump, and RP 1600cc secondaries, be enough?
Thanks again Steve |
as streetable as the cars in bedrock
|
That is what I thought, going for the XS to4 kit.
Thanks |
Steve,
I am currently using the T 88 on my Supra and works great, I daily drive my Supra around 60-100 miles daily, around town works awesome, lag ? lag is overrated, I have full boost around 4,900rpms or 5K , now when the turbo kicks in, forget about it...compared to when the car had the stock twins, barely no difference, with the stock twins the Supra had full boost around 4,500rpms more or less, and with the T 88 the car is almost the same, I mean you know 400-500more rpms, but that is not that bad considering that turbo. Hope that helps.. :) |
Yeah what he said. T88 kicks ass. Too small and your just sipping tea.
|
Carl can you check your PM and get back to Me ASAP.
Thanks |
I have a t72 on my supra which is pretty close to t88. I drive it every day and dont notice lag if I'm in the right gear. What I do notice is my leg giving out on me ocassionallly. I have ACT heavy duty clutch btw. Sure small singles spool faster but it doesnt feel nearly as intense as the big ones once it spools The only thing that would make t88 unstreetable IMO would be if you bought the wrong cllutch. Your left leg gonna feel it from the pressure of the clutch pedal in heavy traffic.
|
I have the clutch already so that will be no different. I am leaning towards this setup because I will not be driving it every day and I have other vehicles, but I would like to drive it alot in the summer.
Any others with same setups? |

I'll let you know in a few weeks how streetable the T-88 is. My car should be done and ready for me to break in the motor.
My mods are: T-88 with coated exhaust housing Greddy SS manifold Greddy WG Type R BOV Apexi FMIC Fluidyne radiator 3" DP straight through exhaust SX FPR- 850cc- 1600cc (2) 20B fuel pumps -8 fuel lines PFC RC bored TB ported intake w/coating Jun flywheel Large streetport with 2mm Jap. apex seals anyway....probably forgetting a few things but that at least gives you an idea. Get back with me in a few weeks and I'll let you know how it is on the street. |
Let Me know how it goes silvr94r2. I am going with wanawankles t-88 setup. Wont be able to drive untill spring though, sucks.
|
Any one else with a T-88 setup? Time is running out. I am either going with the Greddy T-88 or my initial idea, the XS T04S kit.
Who will be able to tune my PFC if I go with the Greddy kit? XS has tuned it for the mods that I did have so I thought they will have little problems tuning it with the T04S kit. |
XS has never mapped a set up including RX7.COM's 1600cc inj kit w/ fuel regulator. With the TO4S, you don't even need those upgrades. An 850/1300 combo will do. Carl...

I'm sorry...I didn't know that your trying to decide between the T-88 and the T04 kit. I guess I didn't read your posts all the way. If you really want a good all around street car then go with the t04...if you want raw power with unlimited power potential then go with the T-88. You will give up quite a bit with the 88 vs. the t04 in daily drivability. Try giving Tony at Xecret7 a call and talk to him.....he's really good friends with the guys from XS and he's the one doing my car right now. 310-324-8188 tell him Elliott told you to call. Good luck!
|
XS is building your car? By the way, what turbo kit are you using?
|
Wankawankel: are you talking to me? If so look up a couple of posts for my setup. Xecret7 has it right now.
|
Oh. Excuse my previous question. You're running the Greddy T88 system too. Good choice! Wouldn't have gone any other way.
