Is this a good turbo to start with

Hey guys I got a Garrett T04S amazingly cheap brand new in box.
Garrett T04S Turbo

That would be the turbo I picked up, a friend sold it to me for $250.00 after he lost his job. Is this going to be a good turbo to start with for my first single turbo FD? Any tips or hints for my conversion? I am going to start buying the parts I will need and do the swap over winter.

As long as you have at least a .84 T4 turbine housing it will work fine for the 400rwhp range.

If the turbine housing is a .70 how much will that restrict my numbers? I would like to see a 400+ rwhp set up. I snapped the turbo up because it looked to be an awesome deal. If I have to try and sell it and go a different route I will.

Its possible, but going to be a hard. Probably take 20psi. Personally I would sell it and get T4 1.0 hotside...

Too small in my opinion. The .70 hot side will cause a ton of restriction and heat. I would sell it and go bigger.

"To start with" yes. It will spool fast with very minimal turbo lag. Should be good for 350-370whp. A very conservative mod.

Going single the proper way is a lot of time and money. Fitment, and tuning alone are very good reasons to get the right setup for your goals the first time.

T4 1.0 as Turblown mentioned.

Or look at his TD61. I made 417whp at 14psi. Gotta get that hotside flowing. Rotaries like it.
