Going with HKS Twin power. What Coils

I am going with the twin power, but I am not sure what coils. I have searched and it seems all over the map with little info on all the set ups.

I want something that is easy to set up and has a fast build up with a strong fire.

I undrstand that the stock coils can handle the twin, but why not up grade the coils to be better? So this is what I am looking for a beeter set of coils to run with the twin power.

If you got a rotary type twin power, then you can only run:

FD3S or 2nD gen coils.

Do you have a standalone or pure stock ECU ?

I am running a Power FC. I thought that I could run other coils with the rotary twin power?

No need to run different coils. We have done 600HP on stock coils and twin power.

The Twin Power does not increase the spark. It increases the dwell time of the spark. Just something to think about.

I thought that twin power did both for the spark.

nope. In all actuality its kind of a super lame piece for $500. It is not a cdi type ignition system. The only thing that the twin power does is change dewll time. AEM makes a cdi type ignition system specifically for the rotary but i dont know about their reliability. I have heard some bad things about aem parts. Then there is the good, old, reliable, race proven, used by everyone msd. The 6a or 6al to be precise. For big power run 2, one per leading coil, or if you dont want to go with the hottest spark run one to the 2 leading coils. They are like $180 and actually do something. HKS should be ashamed of their $500 "ignition" system.

I will look into this. It is funny that HKS did just this. I am also amazed that incressing the dwell time that so many people love this system.

I geuss if it works then there is no need to increase the spark. Just make it longer.

I've posted this numerous times, but I wouldnt discount what the twinpower is capable of. I'm very impressed with it, and am glad I decided to move away from the Jacobs amps I ran for like 6 years.

With the twin power you are using stock coils then.

Then there is no worry for the coils to burn up from the twin power because there is no incress in spark.

Seeing that Goodfella is making the power I want to make I will most likely go with HKS. I also see that are many people on this forum that are happy with the unit.

If it ain't broke don't fix fit ;) Twin power and stock coils.. I have personally seen a To4s make 382 @ 17 psi and then make 387 @ 15 psi w/ twin power and same AFR (Adjusted tune). Helped my break-up as well. One strong stocker G

Nice. I have a Pitbull mix. As far as not trading my FD, I think I woud do it for a R33 or R34. I of corse would have to buy another FD after I finished building the Skyline. My best hope is to be able to buy a Skyline and keep the FD.

Back to my thread. Keep me posted on what you do next month.
