g35-900 vs g30-900
 

I was talking with my builder and they advised the g35-900 for my build. Large Street port E85 with option for pump gas. As I was looking around I seen threads mention the g35 as well as the g30. With out spending a lot of time It is my understanding that they both will reach similar hp and torque numbers.

I also came across this YouTube vid,
My impression is the g30 would be more responsive at lower RPM (match our be better than the stock twin set up?). What would be lost in higher RPM? Would the car not hit peak RPM with the g30 vs g35?

I would like to hit around 550 wrhp and see how big I can get with pump being reliable.

Sounds like your goal is 550+ HP on E85 and more power if you can safely get it.

So... why care about the little bump in turbo response under 3,000rpm going with the G30 exhaust side over the G35 exhaust side?

Seems like conflicting goals...

G35 turbine wheel all day long.

I would even go as far as the g40-900

was just telling someone else the other day that I’m not really a fan of that video channel; a lot of salesperson type commentary that often doesn’t represent the technical situation being referenced accurately … imo. Sort of ironic even, because he would likely advise you to choose an EFR over the Garrett G based on past vids.

smallest 0.85 A/R G40 housing is 35 lb/min, that’s ~650 whp on a 13B imo.

that’s why I posted my impression as I was not sure if I understood what was being stated was correct.

im but sure how much higher rpm is for the g35 compared to the g30.

you don’t really have a choice for pump gas use. It would have to be dialed way back on the G30 with pump gas to avoid emap and potentially have boost creep to contend with. E85 should handle it though.

they advised you correctly imo.

even though the two turbos are dimensionally identical and directly swappable, in my mind it’s not worth the bother trying to test the G30-900 with that fuel flexibility goal.

pump gas flexibility, best possible response, 550 whp capable; on a 13B you only get to pick two.
