Full Boost Sooner
I'm in the process of designing a system to help large turbos spool up a lot sooner. When and if it works I will divulge the info. about it, but first wanted some opinions. How much of a difference would you think reaching full boost say 1,000 rpm sooner would be? I got my hands on a test car that has lots'o turbo lag, so we'll see if it works.

How much of a difference it makes depends on the application. Spool matters A LOT more on say an Auto-x or road racing car then it does on say, a drag car.

For my $$, spool is king. My FD is a street car, and throttle response across the rev range is key. I'm thinking about an RX6 or TO4E for this reason, but if I could get similar spool from a 40R, I'd jump ship for sure.

It's called NOS. :D

No, its called NITROUS :)

An extra thousand RPM worth of powerband would be nice, but i don't see how you even hope to accomplish this. Unless you're going to inject fuel into the exhaust manifold/other forms of antilag, and that'll destroy a turbocharger pretty quickly if used frequently.
And actually, it's called "Nitrous Oxide." |
wrapping the DP helps spool the turbo up quite a bit quicker...but im still on NS twins and couldnt tell you how it would affect a large single...but for $40 its a nice mod for throttle response :)

Can we use electric air blower....like they call electric supercharge?
Blow the cool air to meet with exhaust manifold helping spool up and reduce exh temp at the same time. POM HB |
I haven't used Nitrous before so can't compare, but I'm assuming it still takes a little bit of time to spool up, correct me if I'm wrong, i have no experience w/ it as i said. -- Once I finally get the first prototype developed I'll post more info on it, just got done with the design phase recently, looks promising though :)

we'll be waiting...

but not holding our breaths ;)
