Finally an affordable manifold. ( TRACKFORGED )

Found this manifold on ebay, after weeks of searching for a manifold people didn't want an arm and a leg for 2 runners and 2 flanges.

Took a calculated risk seeing as the manifold looked to be made with the same weld Els as big money manifolds, and that i had a parts pile of $200 in material to build my own, but lacked motivation to do so. So i bought this manifold from Trackforged in OR, after checking out their facebook page and seeing other fabricated turbo kits and manifolds. So here it is... its not the best in the world but damn worth the money!

The wastegate runners dont match with the holes drilled out PERFECTLY but good enough for a low power build.

BUT the big winner for me was the customer serviced i received through ebay messaging. basically i told them i wanted to wastegate flange not welded on but included in the box as i am undecided which wastegate to run.... which they did!

Now for the "not a real divided manifold" people i am 100% certain they will make this thing without any wastegate runners to you can just weld your two wastegate flanges to the manifold yourself.

anyways... PICS

I am in no way affiliated with these guys... i just want to pass this along to let people know of a different option of a manifold.

oh i didn't list a price,

it was 625 shipped plus a week or two for the time for them to make it, so they are made to order so to speak.

rxspeed7 03-19-12 10:47 PM

That's not a bad looking manifold at all!

Glad to see you buying parts! Mani looks pretty! I like the placement of the rear waste gate runner, would like to see a more direct inline runner for the front. But hard to tell with the pcs. Should be fine with a smaller turbo. You need a dp for it?

Are you not going to run that synapse gate? Or is that on the rx3? It worked fine I just got tired of trying to dial in boost settings with it.

Gilgamesh 03-19-12 11:09 PM

yea ill run the synapse on the FD.

i figured letting BNR port the shat out of the factory S4 unit and put some big wheels in the thing for 1k is better than spending alot more than that on the manifold and turbo alone.

yeh to bad about the WG runner design :(

Be sure to take some type of grinding power tool and clean up those ports.
Picture 2. And any other ones that are not clean/smooth.

Not aiming to thread jack but I'm trying to find info on these, any reason one made for an fd wouldn't work on an Fc?

carolinacat 03-31-12 12:00 PM

I've got the above manifold. Trying to sell it pm me if interested.

I've definitely seen worse! Let us know how it holds up

muibubbles 04-09-12 10:48 PM

afordable at 625? that seems average to me.. i paid 650 for my top notch JPR Imports manifold..

more interesting question is how does it fit?

link? brand new?

sharingan 19 04-16-12 01:39 AM

So, about that fitment....

Gilgamesh 04-17-12 06:26 PM

motor is pulled in the FD and on a stand just getting new external gaskets and simplified set up.

i can say it DOESN'T fit in a half bridged TII rx3 with the motor pushed back 2+ inches

silverfdturbo6port 04-17-12 06:39 PM

looks nice please post feedback on how it holds up. i built mine for about 250$ material cost and then my time into it.

sk8world 04-17-12 09:24 PM

Let me know when your ready for my turbo.

ZE Power MX6 04-23-12 12:46 PM

This is similar to the Doc Race one I assume?

i knew you would say that chuck.

i saw that third photo and scrolled down looking for you to be in the thread...and i was right. lol :)

it definitely needs to be 'cleaned up' nicer. strange they didn't do that themselves

13Bseries 04-29-12 04:53 PM

I would go with the DOC RACE one personally, there manifolds go through more port clean up and also have better transition with where the waste-gate collects. Pham at DOC used to make all of forged's manifolds until he opened his own place. I know this because i used to be an owner of Forged Performance and by the look of it they still haven't removed my name off there business cards lol .

zman600 04-29-12 04:58 PM

arent the DOC race manifolds more expensive tho?

wyerrick 05-04-12 09:42 AM

My thoughts exactly, $650 for a manifold is about average...Material is dirt cheap if you go to the right place. The price is is all for the labor. to properly prep the pipes for welding takes alot of time, and then these guys polish it all too!

carolinacat 05-05-12 11:51 AM

im sure the use a flap wheel on each piece before they weld them together.

Finally got around to just test fitting this on the car.

1st thing i had the engine still on the picker when i test fitted this manifold and i had to rock the engine toward the drivers side to get this thing on the studs. so that was a pain, but hell it fits snug.

The turbo i am test fitting is a BW s400SW FMW of the 67MM variety. 1.10 AR with a HUUUUUGE cold side. I had to once again rock the engine to one side to get this big thing on the flange studs. The width between the 2 housings is pretty wide and this gap fits perfectly between the first hump of the shock tower.

so the cold side touches one of my AC lines i tried to picture it. other than that it seems like it would work, the 4in exhaust may be a tight squeeze but i figure any 4in DP would be.

onward with pics.

rxspeed7 10-21-12 11:37 AM

Where did you get the velocity stack insert for the compressor housing?

Gilgamesh 10-21-12 12:04 PM

it came with the turbo, which came from full-race.com
