Exhaust Leak at Turbo and Downpipe connection...

Is there some kind of substance or some kind of gasket that will work for connecting a dp to turbo witht he v-band clamp that will not leak?

I noticed that mine leaks right at the connection there. IT's been really cold lately and when i started it i noticed the cold smoke air coming from that place on the bottom of the turbo/dp connection.

I tighten the clamp as much as it will go and still the same...

has anyone had any problems like this in the past? if so what was your solution?

Thanks.

With V-Bands you shouldn't need a gasket. Try loosening your midpipe-downpipe connection and then loosen and re-tighten the turbo-downpipe connection first, then re-tighten your downpipe-midpipe.

i did that... it still leaks... I just wish there is some kind of gasket maker or some crap that won't burn off quick...

Is your wastegate plumbed back into the exhaust? If not, maybe you can take your downpipe and turbine housing to a machine shop and have it milled down slightly (If needed) and buy a new V-band clamp as-well.

it's not plumbed back in... but i have a pipe going from wastegate down to about half way of the car so it's a little quieter and doesn't dump right there....

I had the same issues with V band. The only cure I ever found that works is to take it in and have someone rework the flange. If they don't line up perfectly it will never seal 100%

i don't want to take it off... it's pain in the ass just to remove the turbo out again :(

Maybe a weekend project one day...

Yeah it suck, I just removed my Exhaust manifold and turbo. Had to take it to the Machine shop to clean up the flanges. I had a pretty bad exhaust leak where the manifold mounts to the housings.
Took about 45 minutes to remove it but should take maybe twice that to re-install.
