EVIL: How much HP is your car making?

Just curious, how much HP is your car producing?

Evil Aviator 12-22-01 11:39 PM

102.6 bhp at the wheels. :)

Oh, if you mean the 20B, I'm waiting on the EMS which STILL hasn't shipped yet. I'm planning on about 650bhp peak on the initial build, so we will see.

Wow, how boost much you running? is your car streetable?

Evil Aviator 12-23-01 12:21 PM

The 84 isn't running boost. That 102.6bhp is all motor, baby! Yes, it's street-legal. I'm adding safety equipment to it next month so that it will be legal for ITA.

The 20B is both street-legal and track-legal, although I will need to add two more roll cage bars through the firewall to be legal for SPO. I'll be running somewhere around 1 bar of boost, which is pretty much what all the other turbocharged rotaries are running on the track. I don't really care too much what kind of HP I get out of it. I figure that it's good for at least 400hp, but I built it for 750hp just in case. The 650hp estimate is from my best-guess calculations given the T66 flow rate, although it may require a street port to yield this power. I'm hoping to have the car running sometime in February.

Thanks. I'm sure that I will have many snags, but that's part of the fun. :) BTW, that's really not a lot of hp for a 20BT, and you will see the top-running drag 13BT engines putting out similar numbers. I just want to keep mine driveable on a road course, and I went with the 20B so I could get the extra torque.

Once I see how it drives with the stock ports, then I'll consider street porting. Who knows, maybe I'll be driving around your neighborhood sometime. :)

how much did it cost to do the entire swap?

I have over $30K USD in the car, but that includes suspension, safety equipment, single-turbo mod, etc., with most of the welding contracted-out, and about half the parts at sponsorship/preferred pricing. I will have another $10K in the car before it is ready for the track, and another $10K before it is ready for top speed. You could do a bare-bones 20B-REW swap for as little as $10K if you did ALL the work and fabrication yourself, and I think that a "decent" 20B-REW swap with some contracted fabrication would be around $20K. Add about $3K more for an FD, $10K more for a single turbo mod, and $15K more if you will need a serious transmission, rear end, and competition wheels & tires.
