Essential gauges for single turbo
Apart from Boost and Water temp, what in your opinion are other must have gauges?
|
Good question. I agree, water temp, boost pressure. Probably EGT and wideband 02 would be next in importance with some type of data logging software. Possibly oil temp gauge as well if you have the space.

In car fuel pressure gauge.

boost, fuel pressure, oil wide band, and then oil pressure etc but those three are must

I run; boost, water temp, egt, fuel pressure

I run boost, oil pressure, oil temp. and have a wideband display. Then just get my coolant readings off the pfc display.

I narrowed down the most important to three: Boost (in case of overboost or low boost could be bad compression or turbo), Water & oil temps (these are obvious and could save your engine). Fuel pressure is nice but isn't vital to watch (set & forget). EGT (well you should have two of them anyhow), A/F (wideband is more acurate). Some of these things are great for tuning or even for repairs but not needed to monitor constantly for a street car.
As for the gauges themselves I wanted Defi but they cost too much. I was going to get Glowgauges but wanted warning lights, so I comprimised on Progauges. Still waiting for them to arrive. They will have a wideband A/F gauge in the future. For the placement, the center console with the radio is fine with warning gauges. If you don't have the warning version then the tri-pod would be best. The A-Pillar does block some vision. |

Makes for more peace of mind and better ease of diagnosing problems. |
For me, boost, coolant temp, wideband, fuel pressure, and the latest for my meth:
