Had a bad day tuning and blew my motor. Which companies do the best rebuilds/ porting?

Interesting comment Bill ::D:
Why lose the Wolf..... :confused:
it seems to me, each ems has its own set of problems. (A'pex=difficult for a rookie to tune, Wolf=few experienced local people to help, others are difficult to install, others have no support) Correct tuning is the tough part and we all take the risks of engine trashing regardless of the package we choose. :bash:

Gary
More than anything else, check the warranties. :argue: Most decent looking warranties have an explicit exception for busted apex seals. Their excuse for this exception is that apex seals ONLY fail because of detonation and detonation is proof of abuse. :rofl:

While I am sympathetic to the builders who want to limit their liability (not really)---- to say that they won't honor a warranty when they know that these engines are not going to be babied along, is just plain foolishness. Look to a builder who understands the way you intend to use the car and is willing to work with you to minimize his and your exposure to future engine failures.

Sometimes you may have to trailer your vehicle a long way to get a builder to install and super tune a new engine for you, but in the long run it may be worth it.:noyes:

MARVELSPEED!!

My opinion, hands down, is that Marvelspeed outside of Dallas is the best engine builder around. Don has had SO much experience with porting and is just one of, if not THE best porter.

You tell him what turbo you are running, the specs, and what your overall goals are, and he will get you there... with room to spare.

The website is kind of weak, but his contact information is on www.marvelspeed.com

If you want, you can use AOL instant messenger and talk to Brent, one of the guys that works with him. His screen name is Marvelspeed

Do a search on Marvelspeed and you will find plenty of Kudos on Don's (Don Marvel) work.

If you have any questions, feel free to shoot em my way too. I've done a lot of business with him and may be able to answer some simple questions, such as logistics and shipping info. But I sugges calling Don, he's just kind of hard to get ahold of sometimes (always porting).

Marvelspeed gets two thumbs up and 5 stars.

The Wolf didn't kill his motor.

ULTIMATERX7 06-27-02 07:11 PM

Thanks for the confidence in my stand-alone. If anything killed that motor it was me. I have had that motor for 3 years and ran the shit out of it. The only problem with my Wolf is it has too many adjustment features. Thanks to everybody that responded, I have narrowed it down to BNR and Marvel. I talked to both and Brian at BNR is giving me a little better deal.

Sometimes you have to pay for perfection. If it is just a "little better of a deal", it is VERY worth going to Marvelspeed.
