I understand that the map will be off. My plan would be to get all the off boost stuff tuned in, probably add a bit of fuel for the on boost parts even though I think it was a fairly rich tune he was running. Then start at 1 psi of boost, tweak, 2 psi of boost, tweak, look at what I've needed to tweak and try to plan ahead for higher boost, then 3psi, etc, etc.

I never planned on just running his tune. I do understand your need for a warning, even locally I've seen a bit of the running the similar tune mentality.

Cool, good plan bud. And I was not trying to talk down to you, sorry if I came across that way. It's more for anyone reading this thread later. I try and leave cations and whatnot to help new comers to the sport.

no worries, I didn't really take it that way.

Hate to say it guys but I'm thinking I might run the used setup even against all the advice given. I would likely lose more than 300$ in how bad the exchange rate is now vs where it will probably be later. Like I said I don't really have high boost goals, I don't like to push the boundaries of my hardeware. I'll wait to up the boost until I have all the proper mods in place.

my biggest concern is actually how little boost I can run with the 8374's internal waste gate. I ran my non sequential twins without the boost pill at 6 or 7psi for the last two years of track days, I'm sure this turbo will still be a big step up even at low boost. hopefully the min boost will be around 10psi at the highest.

I started with a budget build man....i was running 1680 ev14s and stock 550 primaries and i was at 400 - 450 on a dynojet with a supra pump no problems at all at 15 - 18 psi. For minimal effort u can mill down the primary fuel rail 1/16" and run 850 secondaries in the modded primary rail with the 1680cc secondaries for 550hp no problems with an aeromotive stealth 340 fuel pump...this is what im on now with my pfc...runs beautifully.

use this calculator
RX7.COM Calculators

this calculator will tell u what u need to know......what kind of HP goals are you shooting for

Not sure what you are trying to say here bud, unless you are trying to be sarcastic. If you were trying to be sarcastic, let me fill you in on why I stated what you had quoted.... He said he was going to run the map his buddy was running with this exact set up... But he has a different turbo and who knows is VE is the same. So running his map thinking "I can boost this no problem" is a bad idea and felt I should throw cation to that. It is that type of thinking that blows to many rotaries and give the "unreliable stereotype.

If you were not trying to be sarcastic than a I am sorry.

I was making fun of Howard Coleman whilst agreeing with you.
Why is the world such a serious place? But it's great that we're buds now (your words, not mine)

I didn't realize that ev14s came in 1680s until now.
I thought that was just an ev1 size

My bad :)

For your power goals and fuel you can keep the stock primarys and run the EV-14 2200's you can save some cash or use the money saved to buy ID injectors.

IMO spending the money on dynamically matched injectors is worth the money due to the fuel delivery capacity of those injectors.

You may run into slight tuning issues using a PFC and those injectors.

Ooooh lol yeah they come in 1680 variety now. Imo they are one of the best options on a budget they can be had for around 100 a piece. i honestly think while he has it all apart he should throw his secondaries into the primary rail and be done with it. all the fuel u could want for under 600 whp at a not break the bank cost...if money is no object then FFE primary and secondary rails and ID1000 primaries and ID 2000 secondaries.
