EFR 7670 1.05 alternative??
 

Sooo,

I have been on the waiting list for one of these puppies for at least 8 months and there still doesn't seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel as to a supply date. Hasn't bothered me too much up until now, but it is now getting to the point that my project will be getting held up.

So the ideal solution would be someone knowing where I can get one from. ( am on the full race wait list) Any suggestions appreciated. :)

Alternatively, what turbo do you think might be a nice alternative. Chasing the usual 400whp on E85, but most importantly I want response and strong midrange.

Plan will be to run a short runner dual gate full divided manifold and a twin scroll turbo. I like what "ludwig"?? Had achieved on the auto cross car he tuned. I will probably need a slightly milder solution as my usage will see it getting run hard for 10-20 minutes at a time as opposed to short auto x bursts.

Any input appreciated.

Just go with the BorgWarner S200SX 7670 Turbo from full race, it just doesnt have the bells and whistles of EFR. It does however have some of the same technology in the turbine wheel.

Smaller precision turbo would work. I am not good with the numbers but like a 6266?

perhaps get a divided .84 T4 ball bearing option.

a GT3574R or GT35R is also another good option in .84 T4 ball bearing.

those spool quick and have good power and are capable of 400WHP at 13-15PSI.

I run a GT3574R in mine.

re all EFR turbos....

the titanium/alu turbine wheel is NOT suited for EGTs above 1650 F.

i suggest you go w the BW 177272 (straight) or the 177280 (90 degree). the compressor wheel would fit your objectives and the 6.31 aver sq inch turbine wheel provides a big advantage over similarly sized turbos.

It's similar to EFR 8374, which is one step bigger than 7670, but on a properly tuned 13B, lag won't be an issue, with tremendous mid-range.

Howard, interesting point on the exhaust wheel on the EFR. I did run into problems on a previous car with an exotic/light exhaust wheel. Reliability is a key concern.

But so is response, so i am keen to stick with a smaller turbo slightly outside the normal rotary GT35R sized alternatives hence my choice on the 7670 as opposed to 8374.

I like the 90 degree discharge option. Am fabbing up a V mount so that should give an extremely short pipe run.

Do we think 0.91 or 1.00 divided hotside? Would generally default to the larger hotside to allow good exhaust flow.

Hey howard just wondering if youve had any examples of the gamma ti wheel failing due to heat in the 6 years since this post?

We have not seen a single failure.

I wont take any shots but that was presumed info that was obviously incorrect. The EFR line is everything it was supposed to be and more for the rotary platform.
