Ebay Turbo Update!!!

3 Attachment(s)
Alrighty, after a month and half of trouble shooting this crap, it turned out to be the injectors not holding pressure and just blasting it straight into the engine and flooding it out.

I finally got it running buy picking up used injector from a friend (tom) and loading the stock maps and runing the stock injectors. its smoking a crap load. but its still a fresh motor. Its starting to clear up everytime i turn it on. I have a video of it running and turning on. but i dont know how to upload it. Vacuums at -15-16 psi.

I drove it, and so far so good. Havent boosted it yet. But i could hear it spooling and the blow off valve goes off when i shift at 3,000.ahh i miss it.

im posting pix of the car and setup.

which one did you get?

Bud,

I am keeping an unofficial tally running of the various ebay turbos, which model did you get? the TO4E clone, TO4B clone, T-70 (with advertising saying its similiar to the T66 for comparison purposes ) or one of the T3/T4 hybrids?

not trying to bust any chops, just doing some spreadsheets, tracking the various models, and the level of sucess that the owners enjoyed.

Ive just ordered one of those t3/gt40 xspower turbo for a friends skyline, and after comparing the stage5 turbine on this unit when it arrived with that of a stock fc3s turbine it makes me think this would be ideal for 13b aswell, it measure 5mm larger on the turbine exducer with .86 ar matched up with 54mm gt40 style comp. i think would prob be good turbo size for street car 240rwkw range, with medium boost and no lag. It makes me want to try one of these units on my car out of curiousity.

Sorry typo dude, its like 00dark 30 in the morning here and I am half asleep!

madas7

sounds interesting,

currently I have 3 turbos sitting at my house, A TO4E that needs a rebuilld, a TO4E which while OK has to small of a exhaut wheel for what i want, and the last one is off of my 20b so its just too big for my intended usage on the 13b I am building. its a C-7 that flows about 65 lbs and would be a little laggy on the 13b

its advertised as the 60-1 but after looking at it. its very closely similar to the size of a to4e.

KC:

im running a Borg Warner To4b Clone that I got on ebay for $400. No problems yet, about 15hrs on it.

it has a Turbonetics exhaust housing right now though.

KaiFD3S 04-18-05 11:01 AM

good to see your car is running now...

Check your belt to the power steering pump the belt should be under the tensioner not on top...is there a reason you did this set up?

PhatManBUD 04-18-05 12:40 PM

oh oops, i keep forgetting that. the reason i did the single setup? the twins had alot of shaft play, and the 2nd turbo wasnt boosting...and i thought id just drive it around for awhile after i rebuilt the motor but thne i saw this offer on ebay so...i just thought id roll with it and see how it does. cause if the turbo blows. at least my car will be set up for single.

dubulup 04-18-05 12:44 PM

check your belt routing.

PhatManBUD 04-18-05 01:16 PM

ALRIGHT ALRIGHT!!! haha. but how do you guys like the setup?

dubulup 04-18-05 03:06 PM

piping looks great...I don't dig the bright blue conduits around the bay or the wing. Oil feed line can be shortened a little to get rid of that little loop. What does your fuel system look like?

I like the color of the car.

:bigthumb::bigthumb:

Glad you're getting things worked out, your car looks good.

PhatManBUD 04-18-05 04:57 PM

thanks for the feedback! i think im gonna send out all 4 of the injectors to get serviced and cleaned. i dont wanna go through all of it again but ive been under the manifold so many times, that it took me and my friend no more then about 8 minutes to take the manifold off and start taking the injectors out

borg warner, and switzers are pretty solid names, but half the time i can't find them in the trim I want, they either have a dinky ass exhaust wheel and AR or they have this monster sized compressor that looks like it came from the fast and the furious.

i ran a master power T70, .84 exhaust housing.for a few months with out any trouble @17 psi .
the only reason i changed is because i wanted to go to a bigger turbo[ to4e/66 , 1.32 housing . ]

No problem. I take it this is the stock 4 injectors, stock FPR, and stock pump?? Keep an eye on A:F, even at 10psi a single is more efficient and flows more air.

kenn_chan 04-19-05 07:20 AM

Wtf !

Its a SARD adjustable fpr, and a walbro fuel pump. Now a question i had was the need keeps bouncing off up and down from 40 to 65. i know this isnt normal and no matter what we do to adjust, we cant get the pressure to drop... Do you think the pump is going nuts?

dubulup 04-19-05 11:44 AM

how does the pump sound? could be a failure in the regulator...unless you can hear the pump oscillating.

PhatManBUD 04-19-05 12:13 PM

the pump just sounds like its buzzing and turned on. does the mapping matter with the pump? cause right now its got stock maps on it and i need to reload my ones from xs-engineering for the single. i hope its not the regulator...175 dollar piece of crap

dubulup 04-19-05 01:34 PM

no, mapping has no effect on the pump...pumps just dishes out fuel, and the regulator...well, regulates the pressure.

How do you have it hooked up? Did you take out the stock FPR? How are your rails set-up? Sounds like you have the stock injectors and rails, so you would have had to pull the stock regulator and tap the rail.

PhatManBUD 04-19-05 01:36 PM

yep thats what i did. if you look at my pix you can see the fpr sitting off to the exhaust side of the engine. someone said something about the 2 volt system. where the pump runs 9v at idle and 12 v at boost...if its running at a constant 12v? wouldnt that be a bad thing for fuel pressure at idle?

dubulup 04-19-05 03:12 PM

oh, that's what that thing is...probably will get too hot there, might bake the internals causing wacky pressure.

running 12V constant would not be a problem...doesn't sound like a fuel pump issue. I'm pointing my finger at the regulator.

82streetracer 04-19-05 03:19 PM

1.15 P trim divided, and a small 60 trim compressor.

I plan to upgrade to a 60-1 soon.
