Difference in Flanges....? T3, T4, Divided T4
 

Ok I have a Divided T4 flange on my manifold... (FD) - now I understand there is a regular non-divided T4 flange. I was curious on the difference...aside from the divide... if I bolted up a NON-Divided T4 turbo to a Divided T4 flange....??

Also, difference between the T3 and T4 flanges... and if i wanted to swap them out, how hard would a T3 manifold be to find?

Sorry no pics on me. The only difference between divided and undivided is the division. T4 is larger than T3. I haven't seen any production t3 manifolds, but you could hack off the t4 flange and weld on a T3.

the GT35r uses a T3 does't it? People have to bolt them on somehow. If the common single manifold is a t4, do they all hack the manifold to bits to get a T3 on there?

I suppose you can get a turbo with either flange, the GT35r sells a T3 and T4 flange depending on the application... correct me if i am wrong.

yes you can now get a 35r with a t4.

the t3 is a choak point IMO... i run a t4 flange divided hot side on a divided manifold.

the divided hot sides will spool a little faster.. but you have to make sure you choose the right a/r hot side for your app.

is it possible to use a divided manifold with a non-divided turbo? Will this make a huge difference?

Also, choosin the right A/R is all depending on user preference correct?

if I want a 1.15 A/R obviously I'd get a lot of top end, but little mid range, and no low end. Opposed to a .96 A/R which would give me a bit of mid and more high, or a .70 A/R which is more mid than high. Correct?

any t4 flange will mate up to a t4 flange manifold.

its a good idea to match divided manifolds with a divided turbo... but finding proof in the numbers is gonna be hard to find.

if your manifold is divided.... get a divided hot side... why not? unless you already bought a turbo with a undivided hot side... then as long as the flange is the same... it will work.


make sure you run the proper a/r for your setup. too small and it will choak up top... to big and you will never spool it.
