Deciding on turbo... E85-half bridge
 

I am revamping my car, I currently have a GT45r that is seen better days.

I will have a e85 tune with 4x2000cc and 2x1000cc primaries. Also pumps coolers etc to support the ungodly fuel supply.

Motor is a half bridge motor that has given me great service.

Personally I am leaning to a GT4088R ball bearing but hate to look at the price tag.... Is there another option in this range that might be a little more cost effective or bag for my buck?
And am I really gaining enough between ball bearing and non?

S475, $600. won't be as responsive in the mid range however being a thrust bearing turbo versus BB. yes, ball bearing is always superior but you gotta pay to play. the drawback to Garretts is finding someone who can actually rebuild it for less than it costs for a new one.

Yeah I understand paying to play lol I am okay with paying it, just don't know about 2200 to play. :P what power wise is the s475 good for? Is there a BB version of that turbo?

not that i'm aware of but there are different wheel options. the turbo is good for about 800-850whp in rotary applications, there are other smaller turbos from BW that cost about the same if you aren't looking for quite that much. another drawback is it is a T6 flanged turbo with 5" exhaust v-band, so custom exhaust would have to be redone or spend another $150 for the T4/4" "downgrade" which would probably limit it to about 650-700whp but should pick up some response.

Nope that's just about right, I'm hoping for 650-750 without doing much driveline wise. After I get more cash and finish drive line I'm going to push her to the limits.

Bullseye would probably be who you want to talk to about the S400 series turbos, they also sell all the upgrades/downgrades and accessories you may need.

i have no experience with their batmowheel or billet CNC compressor wheels, which may or may not be worthwhile.

did you go with the T4 optional turbine housing? sorry i edited my post above and not sure you saw it. the standard version is a T6 flange so you may want to step it down to the T4 for an easier install if your power goals aren't the max of the turbo. it is a big boy turbo so you may wind up having to move things around some anyways.

I did not :-/ lol I did order a t6 flange cause I am doing the fab work of making my own manifold..... Should I change it? Not sure how much of a size difference we are talking

the T6 flange is a bit bigger than the T4 but i haven't really run one on the T4 flange so i can't say for sure the differences in how the turbo will react to the smaller housing. the turbo will breathe better with the T6 so i would probably just go that route.
