For once a shop that understands the science behind engine air flow dynamics. Far too many shops go above and beyond to just mainly pretty up the engine bay with lots of bling. You guys actually understand fabrication and you do it the right way. The ducting and above header are amazing. Much props! Even the location of the waste gate is perfect for controlling boost.

DOH ! :wallbash:

spiritrmazda 06-27-07 11:37 AM

Maybe you guys can start selling this whole set up as a kit.

charlies7 06-27-07 05:40 PM

So when did thise setup see full boost at 19 psi??

infinit1 06-28-07 01:41 PM

Been at least a few months already in the red car.

RacerXtreme7 06-28-07 02:16 PM

WOW, it takes a few months to see full boost :O lol now thats a slow spooling slug!!

infinit1 06-28-07 06:07 PM

5300 rpm full boost 19psi
from 0psi to 19psi takes 0.9 sec avg.

Well to compare with other setups you would have to be factoring in back pressure..if we wanted to raise the back press we could, and did see a 1000 rpm change in spool..but what we were working on, was achieving a one to one ratio. boost vs. back pressure. and that is what we have now, 19 psi of boost and 19-20 psi of back press. the entire system works much better, runs cooler, makes more HP, with less strain on the engine and gets better fuel economy. for us and how jack drives it works just fine. we routinely out run 650 hp vipers and maintain cooler egt's, oil temps and cooling temps then even them, and they are NA....

Any new updates on this set up?

infinit1 07-27-07 01:31 PM

It's a slow build being that we only work on it once a week or so. This has been an on going project for some time now. I think I have a few newer pics I can post later today if I can find them.

Here is the wastegate installed

Aaron Cake 07-28-07 10:24 AM

Great work! Are you not concerned about the hot wastegate next to the charge pipe? It just looks like there is so little space available with that (though ideal....) wastegate placement.

infinit1 07-28-07 07:16 PM

It's actually not that close. Just deceiving by the pics.

spiritrmazda 07-28-07 11:58 PM

This set up is awesome. I like the way the exhaust manifold looks. I'd go for this if I didn't already have a project going on. I'm currently getting a custom twini turbo set up built using T3/TO4E Garretts and an HKS GT 50 mm wastegate. Keep us posted on this. You going to be at Sevenstock? I'm pushing to get my car done for it, hope to see you there.

infinit1 07-30-07 01:56 PM

Trying to get to seven stock. But the exterior mods prob won't be done by then.

mono4lamar 07-30-07 05:07 PM

How come there are different intake manifold setups here? One picture has the ground zero mated up, and the other has the stock lower intake manifold mated up with your custom upper. Why in the world would you use the stock lower if you had the xcessive lower? If it ran into the turbo manifold that is the only problem I see. Though if you're going for particular runner flow you would be using the xcessive lower intake manifold. Someone let me know whats going on here :)

Marcel Burkett 07-30-07 07:00 PM

Wonder if I'll be able to do an extra long runner manifold like that and mount the turbo in the traditional way and still fit a 5 " down pipe too !

Zero R 07-30-07 08:10 PM

Not like that you wont. I have a 5" exhaust on my car and space is limited. Not to mention if your still looking at a 45R even.

you can use any parts you want when mocking up for fabrication.

mono4lamar 07-31-07 02:27 PM

^The ground zero manifold puts the upper intake more toward the front of the car...

That was there for mock up purposes only. We are using the xcessive lower.

Very nice setup. You get any numbers yet?
