Compact Solution for GTX42R Turbos
 

We are now stuffing the GTX4202R and GTX4294R into Gt40 compressor housings. This allows most single turbo users to retain their current turbo manifold and just bolt one of these new units. 99% of most turbo manifolds will not accommodate the size of a standard 42R compressor housing. This will cut down on overall flow, but we have kept the machining tolerance between the compressor housing and wheel as close as possible to keep it to a minimum.

sounds like a good idea to me. Sometimes fitment trumps hardcore performance concerns

Tial units are for non billet aero.

I'm aware of that, was just curious if you had a chance to run one of the billet ones yet. It should work well for moderate boost levels (not too much better than cast) like you mentioned a 20B might work well since low boost is all that's needed. I'm curious to see if the high pressure efficiency gain of the billet helps this situation better than the cast wheel since we've effectively dropped the A/r.

Damn. I've always had a soft spot for those Mariah widebody kits...

There are two widebody kits I liked and this one was one of them. I could not believe it was for sale...Looking to go with a Turblown kit to give it some major grunt. The 315's in the rear need a workout.

I thought I recognized that one, it's pictured on the Gallery on Mariah's website. Nice purchase indeed! Once you get everything sorted you should post a thread and show the car off.

A 3788R all things being equal will offer no gain over a 4088R, they claim it helps with response but I'm not buying it. You've essentially raised the wheel ratio. Best educated guess says you will gain no response yet make less power due to the smaller exducer bore.


This should give a positive effect on response. I'm very interested in this as it shifts it more to a higher pressure required type setup. By that I mean to make/flow the same 600whp(example) your going to need to run more boost, which by all accounts the billets excel at so it might be win win which is rare.

Sorry was typing on my cell phone... I haven't run this unit yet, very soon. I will also be doing a back to back dyno with a TFE coated compressor housing to try and help offset any negative affects of this smaller compressor housing.

On a side note I am starting to agree with you about the 37R vs 40R debate too, just run a .85 Gt40R, but who knows really. Is the Gt37R a small shaft?
