broken flange on Garrett T60-1

took my car for a spin last week got into it a little in 2nd and the flange broke off in the Down pipe, has anyone ever heard of this or seen this? im currently pulling it off but damn looks like a nasty break as far as i know the turbo is 6 years old. ill post pics when i take my camera next time i go to work on it. At least the exhaust side blades are in good shape still

Sounds like someone didn't properly weld the turbine housing discharge ring, and maybe you have a lot of pre stress on it. Usually the welds at the downpipe crack first though... Might have to just buy a new turbine housing..

If they don't, we have them in stock ready to ship. T4 1.0 divided, with a 3" vband is the best size for the compressor for 95% of people.

Easy fix any good welding shop could glue it back together.

I've seen it before. more rigid exhaust hangers can help prevent this.

This happen to my friends Master Turbo T70.
His problem was due to the downpipe and midpipe, being supported only by the muffler hangers.
The exhaust system weighted too much for the flange and it cracked.
He had a shop weld it, but had to be redone, since the V-band would not fit.
In the end, it was fixed, but the welds look like a monkey took a crap on it. LOL
