BorgWarner S200SXE 7670 - 57mm.

Any opinions on the S200SXE 7670? I am seeing lots of feedback on the efr7670.
Shares compressor wheel and I believe turbine size except inconel.
Seems like a good option for someone not wanting to spend 2k+ on an efr

i dont have any personal experience with it, but just looking at the comp map, just like the efr7670, it isnt matched optimally to a 13B, it was meant more for lower displacement engine..a 13b usually operates on the lower right side of the comp map. not saying it wont work at all, just not ideal. its not water cooled either. the only thing that makes the efr7670 work for me is the light weight turbine wheel and the twin-scroll internal wastegate design. else i would stick to a garret gt series, 60-1 or T04E-60

So the 8374 sxe is a better option? I'm trying to stay away from bb strictly for the $$.

I agree it doesn't have anything on the old stand-by T04B 60-1 W/P-trim exhaust side, unless you want to run high boost.

Running high boost won't really get you more peak power since either turbo will max the compressor on medium boost, but will give up to 100ftlbs more midrange torque.

By the time you get a T4 divided exhaust housing on the S200SXE it is a $900 turbo.

You can also look at the journal bearing and ball bearing Garrett GTW series for ~$1,000 JB or $1,400 BB.

Even BB T series Garrett are ~$1,400.

You could buy a name brand used turbo from someone who is switching up to a larger turbo (power is addicting!).

Wish BW made a (8375) S360 sxe :(

We're happy to quote you any turbos you'd like, shoot us a pm if you go that route.

Thanks Gleaseman. We've been talking already

I ran an S200SX (S256) on my FD for a while.

I never dyno'd it, but spool was excellent, which is what I was shooting for. I am guessing it was around 350WHP @15psi.

Unfortunately, that turbo is a little too small for a ported 13B and didn't last real long. I was always worried about overspooling it, and based on failing the turbo twice I believe that was the problem. It would work Ok for a while then start using oil when it got loose enough to eat the turbine seal.

Maybe the 57mm is big enough to avoid this, I don't think that one was available when I got mine as it has been several years ago. IMO, you might look at the s300 frame size instead.
