Borg Warner S362 - efficiency

So I recently bought a BW S362, .91 a/r turbine housing. I have water injection, and all supporting mods for it, stock ports. Does anyone have a map or know where I can find a map for this turbo? What boost should I be running at that is still safe and what HP should I be expecting? My goal is around 400whp. Do you think this is possible with water injection, what PSI? How about 450-500?

I have the Bullseye S362, also with supporting mods but with a large street port. I'd also like to know any info you guys might have for us.

You won't need water injection to do that. Your turbo is similar to an R85 turbo but with a smaller turbine housing. You'll spool up much faster but consequently you'll need to run a higher boost level to get 400whp. On my one R85 setup I had years ago I made 405whp on 15-16psi.

Water injection will allow for a safer tune but you'll need to make sure you have a proper working ignition system before you start boosting. A nice tuneup and an ignition amp would surely help you meet your goals...

BW S360 .88 turbine
FD bridgeport engine
Pump gas , no aux injection
415rwhp on 12psi at 7500rpm
Full boost (12psi) reached by 3400rpm.

according to the map the turbo cam make 73 pounds per minute at 26 psi.

that's about 550 rotary rw SAE hp max.

65 pounds at 14.7 psi or 490. again, that is max

the compressor is approx 62 X 85 making it a 54 trim.

it is slightly smaller than the typical "67" turbo...

generally they are 67 X 84 making them 63 trims.

in theory the larger the trim the less mid and more top end.

i believe the hotside is T3 so it is not divided but does work pretty well top end.

hotside wheel is approx 68 X 76

compared to the GT3582r...

compressor average area

GT3582r 6.358 sq inches
S362 6.69

turbine average area

GT3582r 5.175
S362 6.31

My turbo is T4 divided manifold, would this change the characteristic of the turbo? Possibly a little laggier but higher top end as compared to GT35R? Anyone have experience with this or opinions.

anyone having good experiences so far with the S362 turbo??

junito1 08-28-16 06:18 PM

I use bw s360. Slightly smaller that the s362. I make between 350-380whp depending on dyno. I have an s5 turbo block on stock ports, bw s360, 3.5" dp. At only 14-15 psi. 93pump gas running like 10.1 -10.2. Afrs. I say you can make 400whp with that setup. Meth or water Injections and knowledge should get you to 450-500 with that turbo.

Nice

Wow old thread... I've made over 500 whp on s360 on multiple occasions. We did one a couple weeks ago that did 462 mustang/531 dynojet at 22 lbs on pump with a little meth. At 24 lbs it didn't make any more power so we were right at the top of its efficiency range on that particular setup. For an easy 400whp goal, go with a S360SX. 450 or more go with the S362SXE so you can make the power without running too much boost. Both are pretty responsive for what they are and can't be beat price wise.

wait what? i thought the SXE started at 62mm..

infact im sure of it.
there is one you should get the 61.44mm .. 84mm OD thats the wheel from the efr 8374.
there is one up from that 62.99 ...87.37mm od
and another at 66.

can you link one that is 60mm??

Sorry I made a typo. S360 S300SX is what I meant to say.

Sounds like the S362 is very promising if you want to be in the mid 400 HP range.

Do you recall what the fuel setup was when you ran it at 22 lbs?
Also, at what RPM did it start to kick in and at full boost?

thanks in advance:icon_tup:

Its a great turbo and very affordable. We were running ID 725/2000 and Walbro 450 with plenty of fuel left. This turbo makes a bar around 3500-3800 depending on porting and setup. I don't recall what we hit full boost at. The nice thing is the power delivery is linear which makes it easier to keep the tires hooked on the street.
