Best single turbo for bridgeport

I would like to get some suggestions and advice to what single turbo is the best for my bridge ported engine. fresh rebuilt 3k miles ago with 2mm apex seals. not planning on boosting past 20psi. Thanks in advance guys!

Sub 500rwhp on a BP

Turblown Engineering FD3S RX-7 Turbo System

If you want over 500rwhp I would use the 67mm version( TDX67)

Turblown TDX67

stock port dyno;

https://www.rx7club.com/time-slips-d...-dyno-1039027/

There is a large sideport dyno on the 1st link( 543rwhp).

It really depends on how the BP is cut whether it will make more power or not.

Select the 1.15 a/r for a BP setup.

Is that still streerable? Lol! That setup is too much for me. I prolly only need around 400hp.450max.

rx7socal 01-30-14 02:23 PM

How's the gt35 setup for bridge ported engine?

fendamonky 01-30-14 04:51 PM

If you only "need" 400-450whp then why go with a bridgeport??? You sacrifice a ton of your useable power and for peak numbers in a narrow rpm range. If you don't want big numbers then why? You just want the sound?

You *do* realize that you can easily make your target power with a mild streetport and a gt35 sized single running modest boost... right?

rx7socal 01-30-14 05:21 PM

I bought the car bridgeported.heheh. how's 500hp? Can I still drive that out in the street?

Turblown 01-30-14 09:29 PM

GT35R's turbine wheel is WAY too small for a bridgeported engine. Our TDX61 is based off a GTX35R, but uses a much larger turbine wheel. Ofcourse you can drive a 500rwhp Rx-7 on the street...

Gotcha, everybody has a personal opinion (mine is that it's unfortunate you're starting on a BP for a street car ) so take them for what they are (opinions) and do what makes you happy..

Agreed, I hope I didn't come off as suggesting he slap one on a BP'd motor. I was just trying to point out that (with a more conservative port job) he could still hit his happy zone with one.

rx7socal 01-30-14 09:57 PM

So its a waste if money going gt35 on bridge port.

fendamonky 01-30-14 10:13 PM

Pretty much. I'm sure Elliot (Turblown) can go into much greater detail (or correct me if I'm wrong), but essentially you'll be pushing too much air and you'll overwhelm the turbo before you hit the engines efficiency range.

rx7socal 01-30-14 10:17 PM

Got it.so I really have to go big on turbo and injectors too.

BLACK MAMBA 01-31-14 06:57 AM

I would go with a Borg Warner S366 with a 1.00-1.10.

ZoomZoom 01-31-14 08:06 AM

Seems to me it would be better to sell that motor and build the power plant for your ideal purpose. If you keep throwing money at this motor to set it up you may end up with a car you don't want and can't enjoy on the street

How much would you think my motor would sell for? It's just got rebuilt and bridge ported 3k miles ago. Tuned for break in.

mannykiller 01-31-14 10:58 AM

Don't sell the motor.... Just Pick a turbo accordingly. My advice to you is stick with what you've got especially since the motor is already broken in etc. PM Elliot and he'll be glad to work with you. He's always helped with me build choices.

You should check out the new Borg Warner S364.5 FMW. Should flow about the same as the S366 with quicker response.

What turbo is your car equipped with right now?

Rebuilt stock twins running non sequential.

Montego 01-31-14 12:19 PM

Interesting. A BP with stock twins... Just out of curiosity at what RPM is your 10 psi boost threshold?

djseven 01-31-14 02:15 PM

Any turbo will work fine. I'd recommend the BW360 or precision 62/66 if you want a great power band. So much ridiculous gets tossed around on here. The porting is overkill and shitty for what you are trying to accomplish but if you are married to that engine it will be fine.

rx7socal 01-31-14 02:20 PM

Lol. I appreciate everyone's suggestion. I think it just go big.tax season.

Seriously I'm really curious because most people get 10 psi by 3800 RPMs in non sequential stockers. So I find interesting to know what difference a bridgeport makes

rx7socal 01-31-14 04:03 PM

I have to check lol.

sk8world 01-31-14 07:16 PM

go big you will wish you did later. BTW I consider my 700rwhp streetable!

I have 2 smaller turbos for sale. A gt4094r and a s475 67mm. Both would make the power you are looking for and once you get tired of 400-500hp you can turn the boost up and not have to buy another turbo to make 600.
