Is this the best power curve for a turbo rotary???
I looked at the dyno sheet and I very impressed with the hp curve. If my calculations are correct the power band is the best I've seen for a turbo rotary. I've seen about 10-15 on the RX7forum, so my knowledge is limited. The hp average between 5k - 8k rpm is 460 hp. Peak of 506 is nice, but that power band to me is even more impressive. Am I all wrong with this observation.?? If I'm not wrong then I'd be interested in how he pulled that off.

I think pluto knows him so you might want to ask him. It looks good to me.

This is his response from another list
I sort of know who he is, I bought his Pettit SS Cat Back a few months ago.
Demetrios.Karagiannis To be honest with you the way I got this curve was trial and error. I have been trying different porting for the past two years and a few different turbos as well. Not to mention playing with timing air/fuel and boost control. Over time I have found a combination that works well for me. I would be more then happy to pass this experience on to others because I would like to see all rx7s perform well because I like them so much. I hate to be so vague in my response to say one thing was the big power maker would be a lie. The way to make big power is to have all the subsystems (fuel, ignition, turbo, motor) all working together. |
Re: This is his response from another list
Yea, Demetrios is one of the team Rx7.com racers. His car was running an identical setup as Ari until his motor couldn't handle it for some reason?? I think he now runs a T72 turbo? His car has been out for about a year ever since he blew the motor last year.
I'm glad that he's back with us again!!! Originally posted by LUV94RX7 I sort of know who he is, I bought his Pettit SS Cat Back a few months ago. Man this is my first post ever!! Yes I was running the same setup as Ari and had mysterious gremlins that caused me to loose a motor. Ended up being a damn intermitted trigger sensor. I still am holding on to the t-88 turbo but for now I'm using the turbonetics cause I have a lot of parts for it at my disposal.
Ps Glad to be back steve!!! |
welcome back!! make sure you beat up on those DSM for me. :)

So, this is where you guys (steve, Demetrios) with sick RX7s hang out! Gotta stop reading kill boards and learn from you freaks. Glad to see ya guys on the board.

Yeah :) I rarely ever post but all my rotary buddies moved away. I can't even get anyone to come to the track with me and work on the car on the weekends and I even offered to pay!!! So this seems to be the only place I can chat about RX7's :)

rotor-dee, yer in Baltimore right? One of my buddies just moved down there, I'd love to meet up, check out the car, talk about rx7s, etc... maybe i'll even drive down there in my rex.. but the 4 hour drive my be a bit much in my rex.. considering the a/c is broken right now and my car.. is a bit loud.....

Yep! Come on down we can hang out and talk shop.

Maybe you should move to dallas, I know there're plenty of races and rex around. :P :D :D :D

Yes finally got use to driving on the radials it was my first time driving on them. I'm used to driving on slicks. My best time on the radials is 11.0@128 with no NOS. I just finished hooking up the nos but I will keep you posted on how it works out. IT may even slow me down!!! Damn I hate drag radials!!!

Yeah Steve Dallas is looking pretty good at this time!!! I used to live in San Antonio and I miss Texas. As far as the size on the Turbo ot is a hodge podge of parts from various T-Series turbos with the ball bearing option. My wife call it the Ancient Chinese Secret!!! :)
