best placement for BOV

Hey guys, my car is sitting in my garage right now, im waiting for money for a new engine. In the meantime I want to weld my bov on my Greddy fmic on my s4 turbo. I was wondering the best place to put it, in front of the throttle body? What about the direction the bov realeases, does that even matter?

What is a good way to do the adjustment on the bov? how would I know if i am realeasing it too soon or too late? Thanks

As far as aftermarket BOV... just from looking at alot of other good examples, id put it on the cold side after the intercooler.

And for the adjustment... they way youl know its to tight is that you get a fluttering noise scince the spring and plate are so tight that it opens and closes fast over and over again.

No, I wasnt at the steve kan tune, but I wish I was. I blew my engine because It wasnt tuned, no bov welded on my greddy fmic, and stock s4 t2 wastegate. DO you know if steve kan tunes megasquirt?

BTW are you armenian, bro? I dont know any armenians with fro's bros

turBRO240 06-18-07 11:45 PM

Yes, im armenian.... to the 10th power :)..... and for the fro... its not really a 70s black fro... but its close to the form, its big and its up lmao... trust me you gotta see it in person to understand lol.

Also unfortunatly, steve doesnt work with megasquirt.. and i quote him "I don't tune megasquirt since I'm not familiar with it and there's not much resolution on the system last I saw. I don't want to tune something that I don't feel was reliable to tune."

Doh! Thanks for the info. Where should I go for tuning now?

turBRO240 06-19-07 03:00 PM

i say sell megasquirt and buy a PFC with the FD to FC adaptor

I dont have teh money for that. Maybe in the future when i get a better job. Thanks though. No Zankou for u!!

So my recomendation would be to run it on the turbo side before the intercooler. By doing this you wont disrupt air flowing to the trottle body and it will help release hot air instead or already cooled air. Just my recomendation.

not a bad idea either. Hmmmm, does it make that big of a differnce? Wont the air coming back in go through the ic again anyways? Most of the setups I have seen are on the cold pipe, but you make a decent point

Shouldnt you be diverting the air trying to get to your throttle body? I wonder how much of a difference it makes

twomucboost4u 06-22-07 12:22 AM

So i may not be right but Im just working off logic, same reason why people take out the double trottle to cause less air distraction to increase air flow. The way I look at it is I want the lease path or resistance from the end tank on the cold side to the trottle body, you figure air biulds up in the intercooler formt he hot side and its funneled back into the cold side where you figure it keeps a constant presure all the way to the trottle body, if you put a BOV in between that your putting a hick-up in that flow everytime you Blow off, as well as releasing the already cooled air to the atmosphere. If you put the BOV in between the turbo and the hot side you are not only releasing presure of the turbo quicker, it is releasing hot air. The air flow is a circulation so if you vent on the cool side the air coming back in wont be cooled untill the next cycle. Once again this is just my logic I have in no way ever proven this. Good luck

Chris
