anyone rebuild a wastegate before?

I think I didn't ask the correct question in my previous post.

Anyone ever rebuilt a wastegate before? Besides fighting spring pressure, is it hard to get the diaphragm to seat? I was having a hell of a time trying to get my kinagawa actuator diaphragm to seat, so I tried assembling it without the spring. I still could not get it to seat.

I was assuming with no spring the diaphragm should sit in the bore with ease. Sorry, I'm a newb and have pictures on my phone showing how the diaphragm is oversized for its seating

i have rebuilt tial and hks style wastegates, not hard at all to get the diaphram to seat without a spring. with spring installed, it helps on those to have somebody hold it closed for you while you tighten the screws. ive never taken a kinagawa apart before

I measured my diaphragm od and its 56-57mm and the bore it sits in is 53mm

Replaced diaphragm in a HKS, was easy enough, actually did it with the gate still in the car

So I got a reply form Kinagawa. I wish I was better with computers. The picture they show is the seating are of the diaphragm not completely flush, There are a few ripples. I would think it should fit flat

I rebuilt my Tial v44 wastegate. It's pretty straight forward. The diaphragm seated perfectly. The springs are just a pain to get the two halves to connect back together lol.

Anyone just use a vise?? Obviously use leather cloth wood or something so u don't scrape the gate.. But everyone seems to have a heluva time getting them back together...

I found out the Wastegate I was trying to rebuild had 2 different diaphragms.the one I had was too large so I was not able to rebuild it without pinching the diaphragm.
