Anybody runing S362sxe?

Any fd is running s362sxe? Any dyno results or details?

I've been running one for about ~6 months. BW S300 SXE 62mm compressor with 76mm turbine, T4 0.91 divided exhaust housing.

Made 455 WHP @ 20 PSI on California pump 91 octane and no water injection. Made ~350 WHP at 10 - 12 PSI.

Motor has a mild street port. Since the dyno we've added water injection and will soon install a Vmount kit and return to the dyno.

Overall, this is a fun turbo. My dream setup would be an EFR8374 for faster response, but as far as large single turbos go, the SXE is reasonably responsive. If you keep the RPMs above 4K, the boost response is there. I had my rotors and rotating assembly balanced and am considering raising the redline to allow for a broader powerband. This turbo keeps pulling very hard at the stock redline.

Not bad.. I need to get mine to dyno tune. There is one guy here in Jacksonville with dyno dynamics dyno,. I made 320rwhp (close to 360whp on dynojet dyno) with t60-1 p trim at 13psi 93 octane. I am hoping to squizz 20 more whp with s362sxe with 1.0 ar twin scroll mani. I have a big ets intercooler as home made v mount. Twin power to help spark. The only think I changed, it's the turbo charger. I might add watter, but I have no time to work on it right now. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...52c48d8c35.jpg

Great looking setup and good numbers!

I highly recommend adding water injection when you are able to. I'm on my second motor with this specific setup. The first motor did not have water injection and lasted about 3 weeks on the California streets with pump 91 octane at 20 PSI.

Second motor has the balanced rotating assembly and water injection. So far this setup has been reliable.

I wonder why your tuner didn't advise you not to pass 14psi with out water or different fuel or you just turned the boost up to 20psi? I am planing to keep it at 13psi without water, but I will get some water when I get some time and then turn the boost up a little.

Nateness 12-29-16 03:14 AM

He initially suggested that water injection was not necessary. However, in his defense, this is a relatively new turbo and all modified cars are a little experimental and custom. On the dyno, the tune seemed conservative. Most of his tunes have been robust for the locals. My motor died after one strong knock event pulling away from a dead stop at a stop light. At less than 4,000 RPMs, full throttle, with boost far less than 20 PSI. I recommend as a general practice that water injection be added when power output exceeds 400 WHP. Your plan to keep the boost low and add water injection before upping the power sounds prudent.

Red94fd 12-29-16 07:47 AM

True and thanks you for the advise on watter. I will start looking on water injection kit . Thanks.. I remember that 4 years ago a builder in Florida told me that water dosent work.. thank god I took the car from him. I am convinced it works, but I didn't feel the need of it at low boost. It's like you said adding safety to my engine.

Nateness, do you have a video of that car in action?

dawggpie 12-29-16 11:17 PM

Nateness, are u running the s362 with Daniel's manifold/dp? I believe it's the cx racing setup. I'm wondering if the s362 will fit with that turbo placement. It's relative far back and close to the lim vs other manifolds that I've seen.

Hopefully this old link still works. Video from the dyno:

I am running Dan's exhaust manifold with this turbo. It's a tight fit; surprised us initially, but it does work.

Awesome. I'm surprised also. What wastegate are you running? 20psi sounds scary on 91 octane even with wi. I'm considering going with either the s257sxe or s362sxe like you. 257 might make more sense if I plan to keep it around 14-16psi.

Red94fd 12-30-16 06:34 PM

I haven't cheked out the 257sxe compressor map, it should spool up really quick. Is that set up dual waste gate open dump? Mine set up is.. can't wait to drive it.

Nateness 12-31-16 01:00 AM

If you're after max power at lowest possible boost pressure, then the S300 SXE 62mm will suite that goal. However, if you're after more responsiveness and are not about big numbers, then the 257 might be an interesting choice. The 257 will fit with a little more clearance may save a few dollars on first cost.

My setup is single waste gate and it is recirculated back into the exhaust at the end of the downpipe before a high flow metallic cat. I'm going for stealth on the street :)

What spark plugs are you running, heat range if known? I have a new set of ngk 9 heat range laying around that I am thinking on put them on.

At what rpm do you see full boost? Got a dyno sheet showing map?

GoodfellaFD3S 01-02-17 06:47 PM

Ouch, 20 psi on a 62mm turbo on 91 octane is absolutely asking for trouble.

Did I read right that this is on a CX Racing turbo manifold? Don't suppose you have pics of it?

Nateness 01-04-17 12:08 AM

I believe that it is a CX manifold, although Garage Life describes the manifold as being part of their shop's kit.

I've been running water injection for the past 6 months and highly recommend it for all applications, big power or mild!

Thanks, i guess10 heat range works perfect. I need to get me 10's then. I need to get the ones out that the builder put in and see what they are.

Nice setup Nateness, I may be planning run the same turbo
what injectors are you running?

Nateness 01-10-17 10:53 AM

Stock 550 primaries and modified secondaries (1300 cc). I'm also running a new MkIV Supra TT Denso fuel pump with the ignition circuit bypass mod to increase voltage at the fuel pump. My tuner reported that we still had additional injector capacity when we hit 455 WHP. I'll try to take more detailed notes when we return to the dyno later this year.

Red94fd 01-10-17 09:23 PM

That's really good.. please post more details when you get it dynoed. I am running a overkill for my boost level, ID 1000 and ID2000, but I am good with it. I know when I get WI, I will turn the boost up:nod:

gavbey 03-05-17 11:05 PM

1.5 Bar 362SXE 68mm wheel. 1.00 AR T4 devided

Awesome turbo!!!!!! Comes on harder than my old S366Sx3 . My S369 had more top end obviously but this is fun :)
