Another 500hp+ capable gearbox alternative

BMW GS6-53DZ, rated from factory to 530nm+ but can handle alot more, ppl are running 9sec passes all day long with this gearbox and does drifting aswell with 700hp bmw high revving engines

Just bought it so i have not tried it together with my 20b yet but i have driven a few bmw's with this gearbox and they are very robust but abit noisy since its supposed to be mated do a double mass flywheel.
Its shorter then stock gearbox (65cm from head to tail) and has a very adaptable shifter linkage, the input shaft slips right into the 13b/20b and the stock starter fits with very little modification, allthou ill be using the reversemounted 20b auto starter that mounts in the rear iron.
Great mounting points aswell to build a new transmission crossmember and can be made to work with stock looking clutch if you switch the center of the clutch disk to a bmw one.

So basicly you need:
-This gearbox
-Modded with a rx7/cosmo bellhousing
-New clutch disc center
-Build a crossmember
-Adapt driveshaft
-Move the shifter to desired position

i will get back to you with any occational installation problems, it is a bit bigger (hehe) then stock so engine might have to be dropped alittle.
Gear ratios is not perfect but will do, ill take of in 2nd in 1/4 with this i think^^
1st 5.08
2nd 2.80
3rd 1.78
4th 1.26
5th 1.00
6th 0.84

Pricetag? in europe about 850USD+modification to fit the rx7 bellhousing

Are you going to use an FC-style pressure plate or some multi-disk race clutch?
Also, it looks pretty short, how close will the shifter be to lining up?
Good luck with the swap!

I will use a multi disc race clutch but i cant see why a fc style wont fit...it uses fc bellhousing. Shifter will be very close with the right linkage

What final gear ration would you use ?
I am thinking about a BMW tranny but my Top speed will be so much lower and I do top speed runs...
Any ideas ?

cool ! let us know how it goes !

how did you weld it and made sure the shaft is still centered? if it's off by few thousand, you'll destroy the transmission. Nice work though. That's a great idea if you can ensure the centering.. I would do the same with t56 if I can.

Looks like your putting it in FC.

The TR6060 (modern T56) fits straight in with the adapter. I did a write up here AusRotary.com ? View topic - T56 TR6060 to FC3S conversion
. Nothing really custom, everything you can buy
