finally got some time to get back to the dyno to tune up the car been so busy at the shop. made 644whp at 30psi , would have gone higher but out of wastegate spring. this tune was on c16 and earlier in the week i made 575whp at 26psi on pump gas / meth. here is a pic of the sheet. car has an awesome curve and it puts down the power so hard.

AaronJ 10-04-13 02:20 PM

nice! What size hotside are you running on that thing.

smg944 10-04-13 03:03 PM

1.15 a/r on the hot side .

GoodfellaFD3S 10-04-13 03:23 PM

That's some damn good power Steve, I haven't heard of any higher on that particular turbo on a 13B :icon_tup:

drftinmx6 10-04-13 03:24 PM

great numbers man

mannykiller 10-04-13 03:37 PM

oooohueeeeeee!!!!

smg944 10-04-13 04:34 PM

Thanks Rich, Its been a goal to get max power out of a smaller turbo, been tough to get the time though with the shop and all. there is still room to grow but the clutch is a bit unhappy in there lol. made 508 tq and hits so hard its just about holding 3rd with drag radials on the street. feel great though it has such a broad range on it makes over 600whp from 6400-8500 rpms.

Looking good very responsive from the looks of it.....

rx72c 10-04-13 05:44 PM

what size/type of rear wheel do these turbos have?

BurntOrangeT2 10-04-13 07:10 PM

Do you happen to have the dyno showing the torque plot? 508 Is pretty ridiculous.....that thing prolly slams on a 4th to 3rd downshift.....

the turbine wheel is a 74mm major and a 66mm minor .

here is a dyno sheet of it on 29psi since i had maxed out the wg springs and it was starting to get warm. shows the tq curve better on this pull then any other. I kept having issues with the dyno rpm reading. I was blowing the tail sniffer out off the dyno as well.

Good job Steve. That's some crazy power. I want a ride in that beast.

dabigesii 10-05-13 11:56 PM

Very badass, I seriously need to change out the plates on my clutch and get back on the dyno to get tuned for 30psi. This damn closing for my duplex needs to hurry up so I can have fun money again!!!

tom94RX-7 10-06-13 09:04 AM

Awesome. Does the knock stay really low with just the C16?, how does knock and power compare to pump gas and meth?

Howard Coleman 10-06-13 10:07 AM

congrats on very nice numbers.

given the fact that you are running a mid size turbo w a 7 inch (average area) compressor you are making almost 100 hp more than the typical non-billet wheel. most cast wheel 7 inch turbos make 550 tops. i am talking SAE and you are posting STD. so there is a 2.26% discount making your number 630 SAE.... which is a good solid 80 hp improvement.

impressive.

your power plot up top becomes a bit squiggly and you indicate you lost the rpm signal. i recently had a similar experience... both the squiggles and the RPM signal loss on the DynoJet.

the fix for me was a decrease in spark plug gap. smoothed the power line and erased the signal loss. (we are using .20).

again, a very impressive showing both from your setup and that compressor wheel.

Gotcha......so does that mean you've moved to the auto-lite 3932 howard? instead of the 3932x?

Howard Coleman 10-06-13 10:36 AM

yes, the 3932X are not gappable and at some point, depending on a number of factors, this will result in misfires. the non X are exactly the same plug but have an adj ground strap. they are currently in my motor at .2 and working fine. around $3:)

my apologies for the sidetrack here.

Im no expert but......was this pull done in 3rd gear or am I drunk.....

bmwrx7man 10-06-13 03:09 PM

4th gear pull lol

smg944 10-06-13 07:57 PM

Al, thanks ill take you for a ride no prob hopefully have her out more often.

Tom, it made 575whp on pump gas with meth/water. the egt's flash much faster on pump fuel then on c16. so you can really do alot more with the fuel. there is more room to go I just couldnt get it above 30psi I need some more spring pressure.

Howard, yes it made exactly 630whp on sae setting. I could try the plug gap a bit tighter I run it at .24 right now. I have the smoothening on 0 to pick up all the break up. but overall has no ignition break up thats holding it back.

also yes 4th gear on the dyno

djseven 10-06-13 10:59 PM

Great numbers. Supra guys have been making huge power with this turbo. Great to see a rotary guy turn up the boost. In for high 140 traps... :)

864angel112 10-07-13 08:05 AM

Nice going man, congrats on the numbers I'm mostly impress by the amount of tourque your making.

unwritten-dinasty 10-07-13 11:04 AM

Damn impressive. Makes me want to up the boost to 25psi+

darkphantom 10-07-13 12:50 PM

good shit steve..... now go rape some 2jz supras.......

was it you in the vid that ran that white one?

smg944 10-07-13 01:48 PM

yea that was me lol supra claimed 650whp but there was no way . that was back when my car was at 470whp
