6265 Turbo Bling

Received my 6265 Billet today so I thought I would post some pics without the compressor cover. Compressor wheel in comparison is a t04E 57 trim if I remember correctly. I like the very tight tolerances this turbo has to the housings. Also you can see the difference in hub diameter in the comparison pics. Can't wait to see what this does in the 20-25 psi range with water injection.

Looks good, I'm running the same turbo, but without the useless cover. When do you plan on having it on and running? What size hotside? Ball Bearing?

fritts 02-18-10 05:49 AM

In a month or so it should be running again (winter the car is always down). I'm running oil only center section so no ball bearings. Not a fan with the costs to rebuild them. As a free option I figured I'd get the SP cover can't hurt spool too much. Plus I plan to see how much boost this thing will max out at.

What boost are you running and have you been to the dyno yet.

My car will be starting up for the first time this week, to play it safe probably 1 bar on 93 pump gas and then Ill throw race gas in and run whatever boost I can until my injectors setup is around 85-90% duty cycle.

Good choice! You will definitely be happy with the turbo. You should have bought the ball bearing version, theyre now rebuildable.

sorry just clarifying, when you say useless cover, are you referring to the anti surge component?

mannykiller 02-19-10 03:57 PM

I believe so... speculation is that smaller displacement motors don't really utilize anti-surge components on housings.. and it slightly hurts spool characteristics. A lot of people say it's just adds asthetics..

Sure looks nice though!! like to see how it does on your motor!

Never been a fan of ball bearing turbos and their rebuild costs.

Yeah, theyre more expensive, but durability is much better.
