A bit of an update on my car... The 60-1 is running reasonably well, NPR front mount keeps things a lot cooler than before (although i've got the air filter sucking in radiator air, and the IC pipes still need to be heat wrapped). 0-60 runs are ~5 seconds at the moment, and the car is spinning 46.5lb wheels/225/45ZR17 Falken Azenis Sports pretty decently on the 1-2 shift :) I took a couple shoddy 60-90 runs a week or so ago, and it looks like they're at about 4.5 seconds (this was at ~10psi, now running 15). I'd like to bump the boost up to 20psi or so sometime soon, anybody know what this requires? It's a stock port S5 engine btw. Timing at 15-16 psi is about 11*, with a 12-13* split (pretty conservative I think). AFR according to datalogged values on the techedge WB is right around 11:1.

So.... I saw a 911 turbo today, right after I was done thoroughly heat-soaking my poor car. I took a few people for rides (got 3 gallons of gas outta it... of course now that I think about it I burnt about 5... oh well :)). On the last 'round' I followed a new black 911 Turbo around for a bit before deciding that, despite his ability to reduce my ego to a smouldering pile of ashes with a quick right-foot-spasm, he wasn't going to do so (damn... he even knows he's above my level :))

So, as far as water injection goes, does anybody know much about it? I was thinking that a methanol / H2O mix might be a bit better, because the alcohol should cool things down pretty nicely when it evaporates (or am I way off base here?). I wonder how good the nozzle has to be, and how much pressure I'd have to run. Maybe there's a good use for my old fuel pump :)! See, I have this nifty cavern where the spare tire used to go, in which I could probably jam a good sized fluid reservoir and associated pumps, etc....

I'd better go get a $50, 50HP, 50mph, 50mpg junky car to drive around town in before I do something stupid (like attempt 20psi without water injection and send little bits of 2mm wide steel through my turbo...whoops). I wonder what a turbo rebuild on top of an engine rebuild costs...

My tranny doesn't like shifting as fast as I do, dammit. I got a 0.2 second (datalog verified) 1-2 shift in earlier today... felt that one grind :). I wonder if it's possible to machine dog-teeth for the tranny and ditch the syncros. Might make an interesting senior project, although I don't know where to do all the machining (I think that's a bit past the 6-pack-'o-beer-for-a-favor local machine shop limit, hehe).

Anybody know of any good dynos in Southern CA? I'd like to get a run or two in just to verify my AFR readings and see what the car puts out. Cheap is good here :)

...researching water injection -- I probably shouldn't tell that to my english teacher tomorrow when i'm explaining why my english project, um, didn't make it to class with me somehow

Manolis, I'm not sure if you are over at the teamfc3s.org forums.

There are quite a few guys experimenting/running with water injection right now. They can help you out for sure...:)
