get a big one... my standard hks creeps....... but also make sure you can get a decent sized spring... if your only going to be running 15 lbs or so, you don't want to get a spring that starts at 15-20 lbs.

do you think a 50mm will be good enough for a 4"DP and 3" catback?

A bigger WG lets you run lower boost. A wastegate is simply a bypass. In VERY rough terms, each main runner is 50mm, if you have a 50mm WG, and the manifold is designed well, you can, in theory bypass half the exhaust energy of the motor(avoiding the turbo). This gives you a rough guideline. The problem is almost all manifolds favor the flow to the turbo over the flow to the WG, Soooo you need a bigger WG than what simple math would tend to indicate. Assuming you plan to run pump gas ordinarily, you'll need a WG that can bypass enough flow to keep the boost down to ~12-14psi on a T78, (unless you are using water injection). A 50mm WG is not overkill, and an HKS standard is too small as mentioned above. Hope that helps, Carl

There is no such thing as overkill or "too big" a wastegate.
If you got the money, I would highly recommend getting the biggest you can afford.

50mm is over kill.
But there is nothing wrong with over kill.
But make sure your manifold design is good as well.
You can have a 250mm wastegate but if your manifold design is **** it will still over boost.
