1600 (1680) cc injector grommets/insulators?
First, I figured this would be the best place for this question, since the single turbo guys are basically the only ones that run 1600cc injectors.
So. I bought some 160# Ford injectors. My problem is that the stock grommet or insulator, the circular rubber piece that goes on the injecting end of the injector, and slides into place in the block or manifold, does not fit on the injector. the grommet is too big. what should i do? should i try and find grommets with a smaller hole but the same outer diameter? any suggestions would be appreciated. |
i have the smae injectors and i just left the botom hat thing and removed the rest. then the insulator fit in there for me.

where did you put the insulator? if i take off the other stuff, it is still too narrow.

I just used the stock grommets/insulators

i basically followed that. as for the insulators i jsut shooved them in there. |
I wish i had remembered that page before last night, heh.
FWIW I took the little blue o-ring, put it on top of the hat, and that seemed to work. does anyone know if you can get more hats? one of mine broke. The O-ring is keeping it in place, though. I don't think it would be a problem, but might be a little vacuum leak, which would be bad. I might just superglue the hat back together, but a replacement would be even better. maybe a ford dealership would have them? |
