13b bridgeported single turbo'd motor??
I am building a circuit car here in the UK and im trying to find out if a fully bridgeported 13b running a single turbo would be good for track(circuit) racing.
What size of turbo would be suitable for approx 400rwhp? At what boost would you make approx 400rwhp on a full bridge and would there be lots of lag making the car uncompetative? Also can anyone that has a fully bridgeported 13b running a single turbo measure their exhaust db reading please. It needs to be below 103db to pass most noise levels for the track, some tracks are 98db limit here in UK !!!!!!!!! I know it will depend on exhaust make/diameter and silencers so can you also post your exhaust makes and models. Thanks Gary |
For the track I really suggest a street or race ported motor with a gt35r. The spool will be quick, decible reading will be reasonable, and you will be around 400whp if not more at 14psi.

your going to be all over the place. that bridgeport motor is going to spool the single turbo alot faster than a street port. but that bridgeport and a single is made for eachother. Considering that a bridge port makes its power between 4300-8500rpm and the single turbo doesnt usually spool until 3-5000rpm (depending on the turbo)
and since its going to be a circut car your going to be in the high rpms consitently although i went from a half bridge to a street port cause i do autox and its my daily driver. but with the half bridge i couldnt stand the brap brap brap noise, the gas mileage, and the half bridge is a little louder than the street |
one of our customers we did a full bridgeport w/ a To4s XS engineering kit. he was over 400rwhp at around 13psi i believe. the car is wonderful on the road course being that his power band is wide spread... 4k - whenever he feels like lifting hahaha!
i have some video i'll try to post. either way if it's a track car only... do the bridgeport. mind you, our idea of a bridgeport is different than others. we have large cuts and bevel the rotor housing as well. also, i'll post an update as we are currently putting on the new A-spec 600r turbo on this car. Should be bad ass :) |
Thanks guys for the replies so far.
The engine that i am looking at has 3mm PTS seals, has been pinned/dowelled.Are these seals good for circuit racing? They seem to be proven alot more in drag racing setups?? |
Talk to Pip at WGT Auto Developments, he's located in Middlewich, Cheshire, close to Manchester. And he has many years for experience building rotary race car engines.
