10AE: GT3574 and Banzai tuning
Hey guys.
I just got word that Chris over at Banzai was finished with my car. My car was previously tuned at Aspec in normal mode (microtech) and I was having some trouble with the drivability of the car. Lopey idle, break up at part throttle and power fall off between shifts. It wasn't too bad, but I'm pretty picky. So after talking with a few other shops I decided to take it down to Chris since he could tune in Matrix mode. To be honest, Matrix mode makes way more sense to me. The result is best summed up by his comment. "It drives like a normal car now. Plus they found a few extra HP. Now the car is putting down 431 rwhp and 338 torque. The engine features 51,000 original miles and has never been opened up. So yup, stock ports. The details and dyno chart can be see here http://www.banzai-racing.com/2011_cu.../brock_smp.htm |

great numbers for stock ports at 15.5 psi!

Matrix mode is the only way to get a nice driving street car across the whole rev and load range. Normal mode is good for drag racers since you can change shit quick and you only need WOT anyway. Nice numbers.

Here in MI no need to pass emissions.
Thanks for the comments, I'm looking forward to raising a few eyebrows at the SE michigan drag strip. |
does matrix mode mean sequential fire vs batch ???

all maps same mode reproduces that plot for every 500 rpm and so allows you to tailor the plots cleaner at those rpms when done right the curve the rpm plots will show is a basic shape that will represent the engine port VE where those around 4- 6 K will be showing 100 % VE and plots either side of 4 and 6 K will taper off in fuel demand as the VE falls away its still not as easy as other brands of ECU as your only going to see the 3D chart display and must be able to interpret it well i am trained for industrial data analysis and still find the 3D chart painful when compared to the 2d rpm load slices and text / numeric tables that other brands allow i find the 3D plot are only real help for showing the shape of the curve and for highlighting which plots are out of shape and beyond that give me the full numeric table any-day at the end of the day its still a crappy 16 x 16 map with crude interpolation, missing plot points with locked x and Y axis plot values |

I remember the fist car meet after picking up my car form Chris and people were amazed how well my car idled. So many people have cars that go fast great, but can't drive in traffic. Why do people think you have to give up one for the other? If you go to the right tuner you can have both.
Good luck at the strip, my goal is to get my car out there this summer. |
I'm out in Belleville by the water. An easy drive to Milan. I see my center section is smoking after only a 1000 miles or so. I looked at the turbo oil supply fitting and it is 1/8 NPT but full flow. Seems like it needs a restrictor.
