woohoo!!! Can you start her up (*cough* take me for a ride ;) ) when I get my car inspected? lol
Anyways, congratulations on getting her running, now to just find a little more time to get the tuning finalized

Did you ever talk to Van about that powerwheels?

Rotortuner 08-05-02 02:02 AM

Yes this is realy a good informative thread. So did you ever get it on the Dyno? And also lets see the vid. Thanks this is great.

George, some of my friends spotted you and Mike up at the Quaker Steak Car Show on Sunday.
Said you had a laptop hooked up to your car (tuning, or just datalogging?).
They said that they saw you pulled over on the side of the road with your hood up later that evening. Is everything OK?
Anyways, nice to see it's running. Hopefully smoothly :)

More updates.. Car is running solidly on the street now (as best as I can with a non-downshiftable tranny). I've had a bit of fun with the hydraulics on the tranny again, so I think I am going to end the 2 year battle and install a 1" bore Wilwood clutch master cylinder. That'll fix it!
I am convinced I will need a cage at the track this weekend, so I have commited myself to completing it by Thursday night. Plus, I'd rather live through a crash if an axle breaks, etc..
The cage project is further complicated by all of my wiring and the control system stuffed up in the dash that used to drive the car remote. Well, as of tonight it is all GONE! I removed the dash, removed the remote system, removed the heater core and climate control, and started de-harnessing the car. Yup, I started splitting the main harness and removing the non-essentials. I removed over 10lbs of wire so far! No, I am not doing this for weight conservation; I am preparing for a sheet metal dash to be installed in the fall, and want to clean it up nice while I am putting the cage in. Uggh.. there was so much stuff in there... TV, beverage dispenser... relics of a bygone era ('92, as a matter of fact). Not even a stereo remains! I'll have lots of goodies to sell after all of this!
Tomorrow, I will strip the sound deadening material, and begin welding in the cage. I still have a dozen or so wiring projects for the TEC to complete, and also need to connect the NOS. REALLY hoping to have it ready for a lame import day at a local track this Friday, so hopefully I will have some times for you.
I still owe you guys more videos -- I just need to find someone willing to ride along and tape! You know, that passenger seat has been empty since I finished the new engine! Probably best until the cage is in!
What have I missed? Last weekend I removed 50lbs of steel and junk from the front end of the car to improve airflow to the IC and radiator. My temps dropped 40 deg! I won't tell you how high they were previously. I made extra space for the massive Greddy IC from a MKIV supra. Waiting on east bear headlight kit to make even more room for the IC piping. Still hoping to move up to an even larger turbo before the end of the season, but my head is already spinning with all of the projects I have going simultaneously!
More to come, as always...

Node! You must have posted while I was typing my last response! Datalogging all the time Node -- I just keep the broadband in the car with me!
I lost headlights on the way home; the headlight relay has been acting flaky for a year or so now. I ghetto rigged it with a cigarette butt I found on the side of the road to hold the coil contacts in firmly. Have not bothered to fix otherwise since the headlight kit should arrive any day, and that was the first night drive in a while!
I hope you are feeling better!!!

Node 08-12-02 11:57 PM

Well I can walk kind of now, as long as you have a video camera I can tape it with and I don't have to use my ring finger I'll ride shotgun ;)
Think of me as a celebrity passenger. We can use Schmiddles as a hood ornament

SPEED_NYC 08-17-02 10:51 PM

did i miss something?
node what happened to you??

george, whats the news from the track? any times to share?

Node 09-02-02 09:20 PM

I was in a dirtbike accident, slid on some gravel, then slid into a guard rail, slid along the guardrail, smacked my hand and handlebars off of a road sign (the post, not the sign), and then slid with the dirtbike on the ground for 40ft or so.
it was on my friends 89 yz250
i was wearing a helmet, and it didnt get scratched which was two bits of good luck

i had 2 laserations on my leg, one above my knee in the muscle and one below my knee in the muscle, both were about 1" deep and oone was about 3" long and the other was about 4" long. i had minor roadrash on my stomach hand and leg, all gone now.
i broke my first joint in my ring finger into 3 chunks, and it has 2 pins in it currently, they come out in 2 weeks.,
my knee is still stiff but i can walk just fine and can go almost anywhere. just no jogging or running for now.

SPEED_NYC 09-02-02 09:51 PM

damn man, stay on 4 wheels!
j/k i'm glad you're ok

ok, since george is too busy to post, and node is too injured to do much else......

Cam we close the poll now? The engine was built months ago so the poll is kinda invalid, and this thread keeps burping its way back up when some n00b finds it and votes...

Node 09-28-02 07:34 PM

at least its a good thread and not "what color should I paint my brake calipers"
Or in your case peejay "brake drums" ;) j/k

peejay 09-28-02 09:18 PM

check out Exit13B's site for his Rotary Shop
www.sevenspeed.com I was there this week.

Exit13B 02-27-03 07:15 PM

Har har! I am sure I deserve some bizarre torture for digging up this thread -- but alas, the saga continues.
I really intended to have my 20B running this spring, but it does not look like I can afford to keep the FD that I planned to swap it into. So, I will be pulling the BP'd 13B in the FC, and installing the 20B. I already have a TEC III 6/12, so I am all set for the 3rd triangle.
Anyone need a BP'd engine, or just parts? Also have complete single turbo setup... I'll eventually list in FS/WTB I guess! Plenty of pics in this thread and elsewhere! So -- can an admin close the vote on this thread? I am sure the new project deserves a seperate thread. I still owe you guys more pics and sounds, but can't promise it will happen any time soon -- although they are sitting on some DV tapes here.

Node 02-28-03 12:02 AM

mmmmmmmmm bridgeport. can i help with anything? I'm free all week!!!

I will solve this once and for all. The shop is closing. I am Mike Healy (Partner/Owner). The reason(s) for closing are not due to bad work or business being bad. It is simply that George and I have some serious issues that we are unable to repair between us. It has been an extremely rough process, starting-running-ending the shop. I will honestly be glad to see it go. George will be continuing with the name sevenspeed. If people choose to go there, I think they should make their decisions about George after meeting him and having a good or bad experience. As for you all *(learn to spell and put in all the correct words if you want any weight to be given to your comments)*. I will say that I have had the worst (sevenspeed) and best times of my life in shops (John's Auto). It has cost me an extremely high price due to egos and anger from everyone intimately involved here. I have learned a life lesson and that is to never associate with those that are not secure with themselves or are overly concerned with how they are perceived to be by others. I hope everyone makes their own judgments based on fact, of which the previous comments may or may not be valid depending who actually got to meet George or even came to the shop. Good night.
