Pics of parallel pumps

Here is what i did just to let people know! But the stock wiring wont run 2 pumps, so i need to run some new wire! enjoy

Hmm, looks like you are using 45deg fittings on it? Do you plan on running 45deg stuff all the way to the rails?

mmonaco 07-02-03 10:31 PM

no thats 90 deg on the top to a converter to make it 3/8ths than a backwords t and barb fittings all picked up at mcguckens hardware store! I think im gonna get a 90 deg barb and it will amke it look nicer!

Directfreak 07-02-03 11:08 PM

I would weld another -AN fitting to the top, and the 2nd Pump directly to it. Then run both -6AN fees to a "Y" AN fitting (-10AN or -8AN line) to run the fuel to the front.

That 90' fitting you have on is too abrupt. A 45' would be smoother.

Otherwise - Nice Job.

I did something similar:
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=1355128
-10AN Feed, -8AN Return.

mmonaco 07-03-03 12:53 AM

thanks for the input! I am gonna get a 90 deg barb and replace that crazy ass hose! Is it the same with fuel every 90 deg bend you lose 1% flow? thanks
Marc

setzep 07-03-03 10:02 AM

I mean 45deg flare opposed to 37 deg flare you see on all AN fittings.

one day i'll switch to dual pumps

fastrotaries 07-04-03 06:34 PM

man NYT is not fucking around!

mmonaco 07-04-03 10:00 PM

Why do you still have the stock hard pipes lines?? But still very nice job! Ill take some more pics of the whole deal! Fastrotaries im not fucking around eithor!! :D

mmonaco 07-04-03 11:06 PM

What should be the presure i get with 2 pumps?

fatboy7 07-05-03 01:03 AM

If your regulator is good for the flow, the pressure should be the same as before, only it will maintain it when you demand the extra fuel.

i use a stock return.

mmonaco 07-05-03 09:05 PM

damn you did all that and now run stock return lines!! Did you end up keeping the charcoal canister?

nyt 07-06-03 01:56 AM

dear god no. the stock return is fine. stock tank, etc... i run -8(?) or was it -6? from my regulator to one of the stock lines right below...

suganuma 07-06-03 02:39 PM

what's the reason everyone is switching to dual pumps instead of just one large on like the aeromotive i have seen on other applications??

I mean, i could see dual pumps if you have a dedicated line to the primary and another to the secondary....but what's the reason if you're just going to y them together anyways. then if one pump fails you get half the fuel, motor still runs, and then blows. with one pump, if it fails then the motor still might blow, but you also have a good chance of it all just dying and only having that one point of failure.

maybe it's just me??.....

RX7 RAGE 07-06-03 06:28 PM

What pumps are you using direct freak?

setzep 07-06-03 09:19 PM

he's got an aeromotive

Directfreak 07-06-03 11:32 PM

Yeah, Aeromotive 1000. My whole fuel system was documented HERE, if anybody cares.

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=1210079

I agree with Suganama though, the only advantage I see for dual pumps (instead of a single large pump) is to have less noise.

Then you could run one all the time, and the 2nd under boost, staged with a good ECU. Although at higher boost pressures, I have seen this kind of setup have fuel pressure drops.

vosko 07-07-03 01:06 AM

the other advantage to dual pumps is if one fails you still have something to drive on :)

nyt 07-07-03 01:31 AM

my pumps are quiet
and they flow A LOT of fuel.

ive seen aeromotives drop pressure on high end.

i run LOTS of boost.. and now im building a half-bridge port motor.

nyt 07-07-03 01:33 AM

and its not like im y'ing -8 and -8 to -8, its -10 feeds to the pumps, -8 from the pumps to the Y, then -10 to the secondary rail

i guess that's an advantage....if your exhaust is quiet enough to hear a fuel pump over it, but i've also never heard how loud the aeromotive is.

nyt - I haven't ever read of anyone having problems with the larger aeromotive or paxton models of pumps - can you please point me in the direction for some threads either on this forum or elsewhere where someone documents a case where pressure was falling off on the top end or if they had any other problems with the pump??

i guess i just subscribe to the KISS philosophy.

nyt 07-07-03 02:26 PM

T&R used to use aeromotive pumps...

but they couldnt support too much past 500 rwhp safely..

then we tried the SX 1000 pump..

which i had on my car and caused a blown motor when it died ..

yeah its a nice race pump, loud as shit, but doesnt like being daily driven as we found out

now im running dual bosch pumps.... its beautiful =]
