Exclamation Resigning my DFW Post and Moving to Mexico! PARTY!

Alright, well I've been mysteriously silent for the last while on here because I've had a ton of sheit to do!!

Long story short, Promotion, raise, minions, and MOVING! I'm packing up my sheit and moving down to McAllen, TX for a few years to be the resident un-fu*ker-upper at our Reynosa Mexico facility. I'll be living about the same distance to South Padre Island as I am from Downtown Dallas right now... (if case anyoen wants a vacation)

The kicker to all this is, I've gotta be down there in about 2.5 WEEKS. I start Aug 22nd...

So in celebration/lamentation to all of this, Thorage327 has been nice enough to pull together a short notice Fiesta at his house on the lake (Lake Worth) for This Sunday, Aug 7th. Come on out! Food, drinks, water etc..... (uh, he's going to post directions, around the Cove from Ihor's place)

Alright, so I'll have to become the DFW Drunk by Proxy for now... Good thing is Southwest flies there cheap, so keep me in the loop for cool DFW events (although, I may not have the 7 here...)

OK, well, I'm off to find a place to live here in about an hour. I'll be back Friday.. Think I can find a place in a day?

Alright... TO THE BEACH!

Eric

umrswimr finally gets back to the area and you move away. Coincidence?

Congrats and good luck, Eric.

Un-******-upper jobs are great until you get there and realize you don't have all the tools and support you need to get it done right, so then they say it's YOU that is the problem

Well good luck Eric and congrats.

You do realize Padre Island Sucks 9 months out of the year, right?

I don't wanna ruin your excitement but consider this:

I have heard from some reliable 'little birdies' that Padre Island is a Ghost Town the rest of the year. The entire part of Padre has a large seasonal staff.

You are also about 8 Hours away from San Antonio. And it's a LONG G-D drive! Serious, it sucks. It was one of the longest treks I can remember, boring scenery and took just plain old forever. From SA then another 6 to DFW.

Padre's a fun place, I've been there before. But I can see how it becomes a ghost town, the latter 9 months out of the year. The rest of the year, it's mostly retired folks vacationing, families or church group excursions.

Plus, it's not really a beach, in a way that I know of a beach. Meaning that you're not going to have crystal clear water immediately at your dispensal. Sure you can get in the water, it's dirty, and you can walk out like 1 mile before it starts dropping off. You can 'kind of' play in the waves there, but it's not my proto-typical idea of a beach.

I've been spoiled too much in places like Maui and the Caribean Islands. My ideas of real beaches. But that's just me.

But at any rate, good luck. Wish you the best time with it. But just know what you're getting into. Don't be afraid to do more investigating on it.

I'd like to come out to your party this Sunday and hang out one last time. Of course my friend in Richardson here in town is having his birthday party the same weekend.

It's Wednesday, I took the night off from work, recovering from this brutal cold. Hope I can recover enough for some beers on Sunday.

I can't believe I read all that... Dude, he's moving there for the job, not the parties. Don't you think he gets enough of that here in Dallas? Why would someone move a 10+ hour drive away from everybody he knows to go to a party island???

ok, I'm now down in McAllen ( kinda drunk) after a night of 'exploring' and seeing where I want reside...

Yeah, all the people I talk to from work say one area... I went there, it's nice and all, lot of golf courses et, but ******* BORNING. Therefore, I'll be looking for places in a slightly different area in the midst of '**** to do'.

YEah, padre isn't a year round destination for the beach bums, but that's ok... there's a alf million other people down here and pleny of bars... It a good thing I found a hot blonde girl to marry while I was in DFW, b/c all the girl down here are hot hispanics...

Ok, off to bed.. G;night! (thorage... post up the directions!)

When you move anywhere, the job is the first reason yes, but the location is always one of the most important determining factors.

Ask UMR, he knows what I'm talking about.

Before I moved here last year, there was only about 2 other places I was considering. Phoenix, AZ was one, and Atlanta, GA was the other. There are many factors you have to consider when you move, and the job isn't the only thing.

I got offered a job in Philly about 2 months ago, and it didn't meet any of my criteria for making the move. Even if the money was signifigantly better than the initial offer I had received, I'm still not sure I would have gone.

yeah, that also doesn't show the full driveway...

http://rx7gslse.com/PICS/GC03.jpg

back yard is even bigger... just under an acre Plus it used to be an orchard (as did everything down tehre) so it's got like a built in canal fed irrigation at the back.

Oh yeah, check out the kitchen

http://rx7gslse.com/PICS/GC04.jpg
http://rx7gslse.com/PICS/GC05.jpg

and the ~25x17 'dining' (aka theater) room..
http://rx7gslse.com/PICS/GC06.jpg

and the party sized back porch..
http://rx7gslse.com/PICS/GC07.jpg

Going to have to find me a 'local' to do some major yard work however...
