Rotary Evolution Engine Rebuild
 

All I can say is WOW!

A little background will make this a better story... A month, maybe two months ago I took my GSLSE RX7 out after it rained. The rain had taken out a light pole and as traffic slowed my 7 got submerged. The engine was ruined as water got in the oil and it had busted a big crack through the OFT.

Actually rebuilt the engine myself with the previous apex seals and hard seals and an atkins overhaul kit BUT I messed a thing or two up and ended up with only half compression.

Here is where Ben comes in. Got the car home from the shop and I spammed searched the forums to find an engine builder. Shot off a few messages to a few reputable dudes but Ben was the first to respond. After a short conversation Ben said he could take the engine so a couple buddies and I threw it on a pallet and to Las Vegas it went!

Ben had multiple cars in the shop and multiple engines to rebuild, all by himself too. Yet he was able to communicate with clarity and patience throughout the build process, keeping me updated with pictures and info. From pickup to shipment the build took about a month. What was quite impressive is the engine was already streetported so not only did Ben have to port the Rear Iron, he had to port match another mechanics work. He also cleaned up the previous mechanics exhaust ports to increase apex seal life.

My favorite part about the rebuild, and what makes it all worth it is that Ben let me know what I did wrong rebuilding the engine the first time. I have no mechanical training and so to get feedback on what I did was priceless. As it turned out I jammed the apex seal springs under the apex seal and so there was no compression. Had also misplaced the oil control ring springs and as it turns out that would have decreased the life of my oil seals. Will watch out for that next time! Luckily Ben knew what he was doing and handled everything.

Overall it was a great experience having my engine rebuilt by Ben at Rotary Evolution. I would recommend Rotary Evolution to all friends looking to have an engine rebuilt as you can be confident with Ben's work.

thanks for the feedback and let me know if you have any questions during the installation process. most of it is outlined in the installation paperwork but that mainly focuses on later model engines, although the GSL-SE is very similar to the series 4 non turbo FC 13B.
