PPR of dover, delaware BEWARE

P.P.R. or Poor People Racing of Dover Delaware are THIEVES. here is the story

i went to the owner of ppr, which shawn kirby, a technical sergent in the united states air force. i figured it would be a good idea since he is military and in theory should be dependable. so i had him rebuild my 94 mazda rx7. i spent an insane amount of money in the car in general to include about three thousand dollars in brand new parts i had him install. roughly 15k in parts alone.

first off, it took him forever to finish the damn thing (assuming he even finished at all, but ill get to that later). i dropped the car off in july and it wasnt ready until october!! wtf. at the time i was in the middle of a move from delaware to florida and drove to florida to drop my wifes car off. when he finally told me it was finished i told him ill come get in a week or two since i was in florida and had to arrange to come pick it up.

here is the good part, i called him the monday the week i was flying out and said i would be there thursday and was going to pick it up as soon as i get off the plane. i called again wednesday to remind him and said everything would be ready. so thursday morning rolls around and i get a call at 6am. it was SHAWN KIRBY calling to tell me my car was stolen!!!

SHAWN KIRBY tells me it was stolen the night before because he put it outside so i would be ready. according to the cop report there were no signs of a breakin being no glass or anything broken on the ground. plus the car is loud as all hell so i know it was driven away.

my rx7 was almost always kept outside my house when i lived there, sometimes even unlocked and few times with the windows open over night and the car was never stolen. the cop also said that car theft in the area is minimal and SHAWN KIRBY'S response to the cop was "oh, i know some people that can get into some cars"

now why would a shop owner be so stupid as to leave a customers car on the curb??? the day before its picked up??? its been there the entire time with no problems but all of a sudden mention of it being picked up and the car dissappears. also, when i was considering him to do the work on my car he had photos of every major car he had worked on but yet he didnt take not one photo of my car so there isnt even any proof of the work that he claimed was done????

ive called his house, his cell, emailed, contacted his military job, and even had a buddy of mine speak with him directly and he has yet to contact me, obviously ignoring me.

you be the judge.

im posting this so anyone considering having him/them do work reconsider before trusting him with baby.

you've been warned.

I'm sorry to hear that. Stories like these reinforce the fact that FDs should be handled only at reputable Rotary-Specific shops.

best of luck.

Have you not filed a claim with his or your insurance company? As long as the car was in his possession, ie you hadn't signed the bill and picked it up, the car is his or his shop's responsibility. Poor People Racing... WTF?

InitialFD 02-13-08 03:06 AM

blwnrtr, problem being i cant get in contact with him now. thats the problem. i cant straighten this out if he doesnt pick his phone up. im obviously going to have to do things the hard way. being nice has gotten me now where.

"Poor People Racing... WTF?" couldnt have said it better myself.

Well, poor people usually are the ones who account for most thefts.

no problem. just dont want anyone else to go through what i went through. i spent every last spare penny had on the car. got rid off all my back up cars since i figured this would be the only car i would need after the rebuild and then it got stolen. last few months have been rough on me because of this.

+1 Don't mess around. Get all you correspondence and receipts together and get the ball rolling. It's his responsibility.
