Look at the latch striker on an authentic RE-Amemiya hood. THAT is properly built. Look at the latch striker on an S2000 Mugen hood. That is properly built. The rod needs to be welded onto a flat plate so when it is bonded to the hood, is has enough bonding surface.
We'll be testing the original RE-Hood soon !

The other company builds hoods with half-*** jimmy-rigged latches. I wouldn't trust those unless you plan on hoodpins.
Look at the latch striker on an authentic RE-Amemiya hood. THAT is properly built. Look at the latch striker on an S2000 Mugen hood. That is properly built. The rod needs to be welded onto a flat plate so when it is bonded to the hood, is has enough bonding surface.

My buddy who had a RHD FD decided he wanted those cheaply made Scoot hoods on ebay because he liked the look. Went over 90 mph on the way to vegas. Hood de-latched, swung back and smashed the windshield and dented in the roof. We have always been weary about how we build hoods ever since that incident. Hoods see alot of lift. It's always best to over engineer these than to under engineer them.
My buddy Ivan is known in the SoCal Rx7 community. Lucky 7 , DNA Garage, and Nelson from RRR Tuning can all confirm this story.

I couldn't wait and recently got myself a legit RE-A FRP AD9 hood.
And well, im having the same problem as almost all the pictures I see of this hood .
There is a gap between the hood and the front bumper...
Another thing to notes is that the original bolts are too big...this hood uses smaller studs.
Not that it matters too much.

We had very similar issues when we imported one years ago. We mentioned this as we were working on the FEED hood project for the first time. However, to be fair, I believe FEED has a new revised version. Probably a whole new mold if they realized their mold has gone bad. Fitment looks to be pretty good on those. Vent cut outs are a bit different.

Could be the hood to, but we'll have to find out. We documented this when we replicated the RE 05 front bumper. Huge gap between bumper and OEM hood.

this with a stock 93 bumper & fender , I removed the OEM hood which had perfect fitment and replace it with the AD9 , the gap is not drastic but it's there about 3/8 of an inch , which really annoys me personally.
It also close & open without a problem.

I’ve also had this issue with an authentic AD9 hood. My old Rotary Extreme Scoot replica fit perfectly. I was surprised when I fitted the new hood. I’ve been reading the hood and fender fitment thread in the 3rd gen section which has a few tips on using adjustment points to see if that will remedy the problems.

We test fitted an Authentic RE-Amemiya hood and it does have about a 3/8 inch gap in the front. I think it is official. It is definitely not OE spec. Perhaps a body shop can add filler and extend an FRP hood, but if you want an exposed carbon look, there is no solution. The gap is noticeable in person up close, but if you take a picture of it 2-3 feet away it doesn't really show up in the pictures.
We align OEM fenders, headlight covers, and a bumper to an OEM hood prior to any test fitting to make sure all parts surrounding the hood are exactly where they need to be. We then test fit the RE Hood. It is definitely short .... and noticeable.
