not even a response from Shine?

maybe Corksport will make them?

Agent_D 11-29-08 07:01 PM

I posted a thread in the corksport forum, no responses there, so it's doubtful.

i lost mine a long long time ago...i searched for a while gave up, and just decided to kut a piece of sheet metal and zip tie it under there....

works perfect, i get no noise from it while driving, been on there for 2 years and still hasnt fallen off(and my FC is my DD) and now i never have to worry about overheating....and my gauge never goes above 1/4

and the best thing is, if i remember correctly it only cost me about 15 bucks total

oh and it acts as a part/tool finder if i drop anything when im working on my car i just listen for the metallic bang and i know were it went

not trying to knock this thread, im just saying that if this thread doesnt work there are other options

SirCygnus 12-15-08 09:20 AM

im down for one.

2slow4stock 12-15-08 09:28 AM

HMmm can you take pictures of the metal under tray? I might just make one if no one wants to make theses. Just want a general idea how you set it up.

shineautoproject 12-15-08 03:04 PM

Hey guys,

There was a local gentleman who came in needing an undertray for his FC. We actually took the undertray we make for the FD (flat version) did some trimming and I guess it worked. Something to think about.

We also have a more universal one that comes in 3 pieces, which allows for quite a bit of adjusting.

2slow4stock 12-15-08 04:13 PM

Would you by any chance have pictures of what the fd under tray would look after the trim on the fc? Pretty interested.

helghast7 12-15-08 04:22 PM

well its to dark by me now to take shots..but if your still interested i can do it tomorow..though mine will look a little beat because like i said its been on for 2 years

i pretty much zip tied mine to the subframe and i believe the bumper, i only did it like that because i was lazy though...the proper way to do it would have been to drill the metal and just use the stock screw locations

pics to come soon

helghast7 12-15-08 04:40 PM

screw it i took pics anyway..it was as good as i could get..like i said its dark by me

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/DSCF6630.jpg

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/DSCF6629.jpg

and thats pretty much it...its not visible at all...it just is on mine because i dont have a lip..and it really doesnt make any noise at all

you can call it what you want but it only cost me $15 bucks and i never worry about overheating

I wasnt around when it was finally installed, so I dont have any pics. However, it was not alot of trimming.

After I get some other things done to the car I may order an FD one and see how easily it can be made to fit.

raindog 12-18-08 01:09 AM

AWR Racing makes one... :dunno:

They also want a firstborn child and a will for it.

I know its kinda cliche for the FC owners...but im like quadruple broke. Got 2 projects, getting laid off on the 24th, and Snap On tools owns my ass.

+1 for FD tray fitting with minor mods...Ill take a look into that.

Boosted11 01-05-09 12:32 AM

Has anyone tried this undertray for the fd by shine on there fc yet?? If you did how did the install go?

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=791103

It would be so cool if instead of cutting up this beautiful piece to fit the fc, shineauto would make a piece for the fc. Even if they have to cut the above tray and refinish the cuts I would so be in!

CyborgRyu 01-11-09 10:26 PM

Wouldn't it be just cheaper/easier to make an aluminum? They are sturdier

Rob XX 7 01-21-09 06:46 PM

what are those pictures of? you have it wire tied under the car??

helghast7 01-21-09 08:19 PM

its sheet metal...i got it at home depot for like 5 bucks..i did it the lazy way because i knew nobody was going to see it but if you had to you could cut it to shape

but my way doesnt bother me, maybe when i have the time ill make it better...

but in the mean time it makes zero noise and my stock gauge never goes past 1/4 even after a full days worth of beating in 90 degree weather

Rob XX 7 01-22-09 08:49 AM

the stock pan is shaped to bolt up, making a totally flat pan means you either need spacers and long bolts to use the stock mounting holes, or something like that.

Me personally I dont feel that a zip tied undertray is very safe, you may be getting away with it and thats fine, but if that thing starts to come loose some poor fuck behind you is going to end up with that in thier hood and windshield.

helghast7 01-22-09 11:13 PM

which is the great thing about aluminum..very easy to bend...and having 7 zip ties some of which are the big half inch ones usually holds things rather well....

and working at a dealership has the benefit of being able to inspect it every week..and like i said its been there for 2 years through snow storms heavy rain going through puddles thick mud, speed bumps 110 mph on the highway...taking it to the track, and on and on..if it hasnt fallen off yet...i think it will rust away before it does

and besides if i bottom out that hard as to rip that off...theres going to be alot more debris then just that flimsy ass thing

but regardless if there is enough interest in the concept then ill take a weekend off, sketch a template and make one and see how it does..if it stays put for a couple months ill gauge interest once again and start producing them

with bolts of course in the proper locations

raindog 01-23-09 12:13 AM

i made one out of corrugated plastic, i was able to use the stock bolts and mounts as well.

Rob XX 7 01-23-09 08:45 AM

you cant trust that others will be so diligent, you have to prepare for the worst case scenario when you are selling a product.

helghast7 01-23-09 12:06 PM

i know thats why i put the other comment...with the making an exact fit with all the bolt holes using bolts and what not
