no SS14 news?

figured by now a date was semi planned so vendors can start preparing.

Funkspectrum 06-20-11 11:25 PM

I've been wondering the same thing.

I wanna know if this is actually gonna happen...cause if not...maybe have our own up here in the SF Bay... :suspect:

RotaryEvolution 06-21-11 02:06 PM

i could swear we would already have a date set by now for SS, i was surprised to come in here and see absolutely nothing...

the guys locally here are already planning on next years WHiV show. i know sevenstock has been around for many more years though but what's so difficult about just picking a date and sticking to it.

FrankV702 06-21-11 02:51 PM

I needs to know the dates so I can make sure to get it off work.. :/

hornbm 06-22-11 01:59 AM

13x 06-22-11 12:45 PM

Different boat, I have to ok others vacations and I can't till I know when SS is. Would suck to ok someone elses and screw myself :(

Karack, WHiV5 dates and location are 95% locked in ;)

Bern 06-25-11 05:44 AM

Guys... huge apologies to all... we (the club side) are always ready to go with dates with right after the previous year's event, but we have to deal with the very large corporation that is Mazda. Unfortunately this year there were more complications than normal with Mazda and things have been really shaken up. All the cool factory displays and factory property don't just happen... there is a lot of crap that goes on behind the scenes.

What is the WHiV show? Sounds interesting?

Well Bernie it's not Sevestock but it's a deal we do. This past year we had over 100 people from 8 different states it's a multi day event with something for everyone. Would be great if you and more of the Socal bunch joined us. We totally understand the efforts that go on behind the scenes to put on an event and who more deserving then those that bust their butts each to make Sevenstock happen to kick back with some fellow rotorheads and just enjoy

Oh Bernie SinCityRotary is looking at adding something for the SS raffle, how would we go about doing that?

Look forward to joing you guys for Sevenstock 14!!!

Thanks for all the info on the event... sounds pretty cool. Do you have a string on the forum with information ?

As soon as we have some more concrete info on SS-14, including vendor raffle details, I'll hit you guys up ASAP.

A special thanks to all of the SS supporters, and all the guys behind the scenes that make this happen every year!! :icon_tup:

Yes there is a string on here but sadly the "big forum" for the 7's gets little action it's almost underground at this point lol much more traffic on the local forums and rx8club regarding WHiV.

Looking forward to a trip to Socal woooot

MR_Rick 06-26-11 11:03 PM

There was a poll posted in their facebook page about Laguna Seca today. I don't know how legit the post is but if itis in Laguna Seca I'm not going. That's too far and not enough time for me to plan a "vacation" there.

13x 06-27-11 12:17 AM

We are all for supporting Sevenstock but at 1000 miles round trip that may be pushing what most would be able to do from SCR

Fc3sFREAK415 06-27-11 02:52 PM

i wanna go this year so bad since ive never been before

I didn't see the Facebook poll in fact when I tried to find them on facebook it doesn't come up.

I understand what you are saying but for a long hauler like myself, it doesn't make too much difference between LA, Northern CA or for that matter Vegas.

It is hard to judge that 1000 miles would be my breaking point when my trip each year is 2600 miles and I am by no means the furthest away. I would love the opportunity one year to see the racing rotaries on the track and hear them wind out under load.

But 13x here is my question to you.... if the LA rotary guys aren't willing to go up to Laguna Seca 300 miles away.... why would they come to Las Vegas 270 miles away? Not trying to stir up anything just questions. I mean Bern and all the SoCal guys are an awesome bunch and would love to see one year when they could relax and enjoy the show rather than spend all day working the show.

Bern, you guys decide and let us know I will be there.

I will come no mattter what because of the event and my friends that will be there.

13x 06-27-11 08:46 PM

rotary dude I am drawing a blank how to respond without looking like a d1ck I'll pm my response I think you understand a little better

at this point it's timing .... rip that band aid off

MR_Rick 06-27-11 09:18 PM

My issue is this is a short notice to me, considering my schedule is planned out all the way to late November.

cfamilyfix 06-27-11 11:06 PM

I got the facebook poll today too...the Seven Stock Group on facebook has been archived I think, that may be why some people can't find it. If you go to the search feature on you "my groups" and type in Seven Stock it may come up. I had a tough time finding it myself. It is so crazy that the date isn't set yet...A friend of mine offered me over 100k worth of "free miles" and I was trying to book this trip for me and my son. I wonder if all the unfortunate and tragic stuff that happened in Japan this year has anything to due with the delay of date and possible change in venue??? I hope it all works out though. It looks looks a great time. Thanks to all who make it happen every year. I hope it can be pulled off again.

I'm not surprised! That earthquake had some REALLY long term effects over their. I'm sure many Japanese manufacturers still have their hands tied. If Mazda can't help with Sevenstock this year, I completely understand.

RCCAZ 1 07-02-11 06:19 PM

How about late October, Hidden Valley Park (only about 3 miles from Mazda Corporate in Irvine). This is the same location that they used to hold the Japanese Classic Car Show. We could cookout, have a volleyball tourney (old skool, versus Gen 2 guys, versus Gen 3 guys, versus RX-8 owners). Lots of shade in the park and everyone could be on the grass....

Just a thought!!

Krathion 07-10-11 04:28 PM

Id do it in oct if I can get my 7 to pass Cali emissions by then Maybe I should trailer it to Vegas and have Karack look at it

Well, I can't speak for anyone but myself, but having 1) been to Vegas, and 2) been to Monterey, I can say each has its attractions.

Monterey has a nice aquarium, some decent fish restaurants, some pricey hotels, access to the wine country, and a pleasant climate. And that's all, absent the main event.

Vegas has... pretty much anything you'd care to do and a number of things you'd not care to be seen doing... so long as you do it INdoors. Been there many times when the temp was substantially above 110 degrees at street level.

If going for a car event where all'd have to be outside all day, in late summer/early fall, Monterey is survivable for most anyone. Takes acclimatization to survive being outdoors all day in Vegas. Can be dangerous to folk from milder climes.

But Monterey is a long way from anything much.

amen brother DD being a native new yorkers myself it gets too damn hot here lol hence why we do our thing mid May the weather is damn near perfect.

Note as I am using my SA with non op a/c right now as my dd due to my wifes DD being DOA and she has mine ... IT'S TOO DAMN HOT lmao

FrankV702 07-13-11 03:59 PM

haha.. I remember back when I was 16 cruising around in the summer heat in my 10th AE. I was hating life! 120 degrees out, sitting in traffic, no A/C, and the heater full blast so my car wouldn't overheat! The good ol' days! :)

For the WHIV meet, the weather was PERFECT out here!

I LOVE the Cali Sevenstock trips though. Especially having it in Irvine, close to the spectrum and all the cute ladies at Laguna beach! I've went to all of them except for one in the passed 10 years. I'll be super bummed if there's not a Sevenstock this year. I know it's a lot of organization though to get an event that big put together but it would be pretty awesome and DEEPLY appreciated if there was one this year! :) I'm one of the folks that personally wouldn't mind paying for a ticket or anything to go either if money were an issue of having it.

Frank we are working on something, especially for peeps like you who have always made an extra sacrafice in time and money to join us every year. We are always honored to have so many out of town folks come out year after year... and appreciate the effort!! We hope to have something to announce soon.
